The Hatcher Pass Lodge is nestled in the Independence Bowl, surrounded by mountains. It is also located about 1/2 from the Independence Mine State Park. There is great hiking all around. The views are awesome, and are the best part. The lodge and the cabins have a great view of the Matanuska Valley, with the Knik Glacier in the distance,... More

What an amazing place this is. We were in cabin 4 and it was beautiful. We were there for only a night, but ended up hoping we could have stayed longer. You are above everything, with clouds passing by, beautiful views from the window, amazing tundra right outside your door and the town of Palmer in the far distance. It... More

Whenever I take friends or family to Alaska I always go here first. It is above tree line and near an old gold mine which is now a state park. The cabins are basic, The shower is in the main lodge but any shortcomings are overlooked because of the scenery. The food in the lodge is great. This is not... More

We stopped at Hatcher Pass Lodge after a day hike in the area. The food was horrendous both in quality and price, and it cost $16.50 for a pizza that clearly had come out of the freezer aisle. The service was slow and of poor quality, and we had to remind our server 3 times that we had ordered nachos... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in the middle of our two-week vacation, in a cabin that overlooked the mountains. We were very comfortable here. Our cabin had a table with chairs, a comfortable couch, a very comfortable platform bed and a very easy-to-use chemical toilet in the bathroom which included a sink and a Coleman container with a gallon... My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights over Memorial Day weekend. It was unplanned as we were just going to camp, but decided to check it out. Our cabin was a decent size and had an awesome view of the mountains and the mining park. It was very quiet with only the creek running behind our cabin, the... More

The views and scenery are beautiful and the location is wonderful. The cabins are within minutes of several recommended hiking trails and the very neat Independence State Mine. The cabins are rustic and in need of a bit of TLC, but we didn't go to Alaska to lounge around in the lap of luxury type of hotels. Would I recommend... More

Travel Agent and I clearly confused Hatcher Pass Lodge with Hatcher Pass B&B. This was not what I wanted nor would ever choose on my own. Our cabin had a water jug that leaked on the floor, no extra pillow cases for the extra pillows, a comfortor torn in several locations, a stained couch and carpet, and a window screen... More

The main building encompasses restaurant, bar and the only running water on the property so, this is where the flush toilets and shower is. The cabins have clean, working chemical toilets in the bathrooms with a small sink that only has a drain. We had an A-frame cabin with queen bed in the loft (comfortable) and full size futon (uncomfortable)... More
