I can't understand why this Parador is not rated more highly on Tripadvisor. Obviously the people who have reviewed it are far more used to luxury hotel accommodation than I am, because I loved it and was impressed by the historic building, beautiful decor, spacious room, great bathroom and all the little finishing touches that made us feel as if... This is a very nice place to stay in Avila as the Hotel is in an old building and therefore very different from the regular Hotels. We got a room with a very good view of the garden and the famous Avila wall that surrounds the old part of this city. Wifi was complimentary as in all the “Parador” chain,... More

Almost all the paradors are great and this one is no exception. Rooms big and airy. Food excellent. Only complaint was they were a bit overworked. More

Why are so many people such whingers when it comes to reviewing hotels, etc? I go to some lovely places, have a great time, and then I look at Tripadviser reviews. These cannot be the same places. Good grief, if everything is so bad then just stay at home, eat TV meals and watch soaps. Life is for living, experiences... More

As over 55s, we were entitled to "golden years" concession of 30% off any Parador. This one is situated in the wall itself. The coffee bar was open at all hours, serving drinks, sandwiches and light snacks. I would never use a Parador restaurant as the food tends to be bland and international, so did not try this one, but... More

The Parador is within the walls of the old city, but in the lower part, therefore you have to walk up to all the atractions. We stayed in an upgraded room with a canopy bed and payed accordingly but actually besides the bed it had no extrafeatures. We were cautioned not to eat in therestaurant and didn't and judging from... More

The Parador is set within the old city walls of Avila with a pretty garden in an old building so has lots of character. The room was spacious but rather plain, not as interesting as younwould expect in an old building. Avila is a completely walled town with lovely views of the countryside from the walls which you can walk... More

The restaurant opens at 1pm.As we had a young child to feed before her nap,we arrived at 12:57, hoping to just relax as the restaurant doors were open.We were asked by the waitress to leave until the restaurant opened and she locked the doors as we left!We came back at 13:10 and ordered a vegetarian lasagne of spinach and cheese,... We had a superior twin room and were really pleased with it - very spacious, lovely big bathroom and a nice view over the gardens and wall. The location was great for everything we wanted to do in Avila, including sightseeing and nightlife - we were easily able to walk everywhere. We didn't eat at the parador, so can't comment... More

I was so looking forward to our stay and on initial viewing it did look a fantastic hotel. I totally agree about the garden area over looking the old city wall. It is a beautiful sight. Our standard room was pretty average. Clean and an average size, it didn't have the feel of something special The staff were ok and... More
