Amakhala have got all their bases covered and excell in every aspect. The team at the Bush Lodge, situated in the Amakhala Private Game Reserve between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, offer guests a comprehensive 5 star experience. In addition to the wonderful wildlife experience, the food is prepared and presented by professionals and is comparable to what one might expect... More

Had a fantastic 4 night safari at Bukela lodge, Amakhala Safari Park in March 2013, which was amazing. The chalet was luxurious, but still had that " safari" feel and the food was exemplary. As the lodge accommodates only eight people, the whole experience was more personal and special. Our guide Asher was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the park... More

If there is such a thing, Amakhala would be the 'Aloe Vera gem of the Eastern Cape'! Absolutely first class service from all staff - chefs, guides and managers alike. A warm and friendly welcome to a beautifully decorated private African safari resort, cocktails on arrival, bubble baths at the ready after safaris and absolutely exquisite food - especially the... Amakhala is my little bit of heaven. We have stayed a few times at Leuwenbosch and once at Bukela. The Fowlds family at Leuwenbosch are very welcoming and we have come to value them as friends. We have stayed there as initially a family with young teenage children and recently with a large group of family and friends( aged 3... More

We stayed 3 nights at Amakhala and had a wonderful time! The staff is very friendly, makes a real effort to learn your name and our driver Amy answered all our "stupid" questions and then some! We wish her well in her further career. Of course, all of this is secondary to the amazing variety of animals, seen in their... More

This place was a real gem. We chose Leeuwenbosch out of all the lodges in Amakhala as it offered the best value. I have been on safari before and stayed in tents and huts, so this seemed really luxurious. If you want a 'tribal' african experience then this lodge may not be your best choice. What Leeuwenbosch does have however,... More

We arrived at Reed Valley Inn and were immediately offered an upgrade for £25ish per person, we felt a little bit pushed into it, but actually it was totally the right decision to make the move up to Bush Lodge. It’s not that Bush Lodge is better accommodation (its 5* but Reed Valley looked just as lovely as we walked... More

Me and my girl-friend booked 4 nights at the Reed Valley Inn. As we were the only guests during our stay we were very fortunate and were upgraded for a small additional fee to stay at the Bush Lodge. (If you are staying at the Reed Valley Inn you will be transferred each day to the Bush Lodge inside the... More

We stayed at the safari lodge which is absolutely gorgeous - luxury accomodation with lovely touches like sparkling wine on ice by the bath every evening and chocolates and bedtime stories on your pillow after dinner. The cottages were lovely with outside shower and private terrace and plunge pool where you can sit and watch giraffe, zebras, monkeys etc drink... More
