This charming Little guest house is full of colonial charm, and is clean and well maintained. The staff is most welcoming, and was very helpful. Not for those that are looking for a stream lined modern place, but for those who prefer charm, style and a Unique place.

Durban is about lush vegetation, friendly people and spending balmy days at a relaxed pace. The Durban Elephant epitomizes this, with its wonderful garden, personal service and the peaceful atmosphere. I truly felt at home and looked forward to returning there each night and waking up the next morning for a swim in the salt water pool surrounded by the... More

I stayed here for the first time. Both Marlene and Howard extended a warm welcome and hospitality during the entire period that I stayed here. The B&B staff were courteous and breakfasts were amazing. The place is so peaceful, surrounded by a beautiful garden with birds chirping in the background. Comfortable beds, rooms are nice and decent - good value... More

We stayed for a fortnight in this delightful Edwardian colonial style house with its charming and helpful hosts. It has commanding views over Durban, generously proportioned rooms comfortably laid out, delicious breakfasts, beautiful gardens to relax in and lovely pool. Its a haven after the bustle of downtown Durban but not too far from the action to be perfect for... More

I really enjoyed my 5-night stay here. It was well decorated and still felt like home. The breakfasts were great and the hosts were lovely and accommodating. The beds here are so comfortable! It was hard to get a start to my day because I could have slept the whole time. This was my first time in South Africa and... More

what a lovely place to stay...quiet, central, surrounded on 4 sides by gardens and a pond, comfortable and relaxed. Bountiful breakfasts. The hosts are charming and ever so helpful.

Spent 4 nights here and was very pleased with everything, but particularly the warm welcome and good cheer of all the staff. The Manager, went out of of his way to ensure a good stay. The hotel has a limited, but ample, range of services and amenities and is well maintained with comfortable rooms. It is well situated in a... More

We recently stayed 4 nights at Durban Elephant, following a week-long safari tour that ended in Durban. What a pleasant surprise! A great room [with a fabulous view!] in a beautiful setting, with the most pleasant, welcoming and generous hosts we've ever had anywhere we've stayed! Spoiling us with a wonderful breakfast every morning, we hated to leave! Located in... More

I just spent four days at the Durban Elephant. It was the perfect spot as a home base while I worked in Durban for a week. It was comfortable, low key and personal. I had a large room with a large bathroom and a terrace with a view of the City and ocean. The bed was one of the most... More
