History and modern luxury merge to create ageless beauty at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, which was built in 1904 as the North Quay Warehouse. This iconic establishment was named after Queen Victoria and her son, Prince Alfred who played an intrinsic role in the establishment of the Breakwater Basin, now the V&A Waterfront. The hotel is located in the very heart of this internationally acclaimed destination and is a sophisticated retreat amid the buzz. It offers some of the most enviable views of Cape Town Harbour, Table Mountain and the slick city that stretches out at the foot of this Natural Wonder. Timeless elegance and personalised luxury are found at the award-winning Victoria & Alfred Hotel.

Stayed here for 4 nights 17-21 Feb. Fabulous corner room with superb mountain views, fitted out to a very high standard. Friendly and helpful staff. Never had a problem finding a tabke for breakfast or dinner, but the choice within 5 minutes walking distance is amazing anyway. Valet parking for your hire car if needed. Have stayed in their sister Queen Victoria hotel just across the road before; both are superb.

We stayed for 3 nights last week. We stayed a few years ago, and have subsequently stayed at 2 other hotels nearby. There’s no beating the location of this hotel, and it has a fantastic view of table mountain. But it is very busy. We experienced a couple of initial issues upon arrival, which were immediately rectified by the hotel, and we were provided with a room upgrade. Fantastic view every morning ! We enjoyed our stay.

This hotel was wonderful. We spent three nights here and we had a great experience. I have read other reviews about staff stealing money, but e did not use the safe and everything was fine. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. The hotel is right in the centre of the Waterfront which means youhave access to a huge varirety of restaurants and shops. I would recommend!!

From the minute we arrived, the staff were on hand to help in any way they could. Our luggage was looked after until we could check in to our room. We had a lovely buffet lunch at the hotel on our first day which was delicious - and so much to choose from. The room was just lovely - a huge comfy bed - and ours opened on to the square where you could hear the local school bands playing instruments and singing - what a treat! The location is second to none - right on the waterfront. The staff and food were amazing! I will definitely be going back!

If I could leave less than one star I would. DO NOT STAY HERE. WE WERE ROBBED BY THE HOTEL STAFF. My wife and I decided to stay here on our honeymoon, and as a result spent our first Valentine’s Day together in the police department. Not only was $500 and our belongings stolen from inside our hotel room, the hotel offered little to no customer service and no compensation even though a polygraph test was performed and the culprit was identified. Incredibly poor quality service; invasion of privacy and disappointing response in the form of lack of hospitality. Save yourself the grief and stay somewhere else.

We booked in very last minute, but the welcome and hospitality we received from Zenitha and Tarrique, in fact all of the hospitality staff was second to none! We absolutely adored our short stay with them. They were the best. Definitely would return.

Arrived 1st February from a cruise at 10.00 am knowing check in was from 14.00. Warmly greeted and offered tea and luggage stored. Our room, mountain view and first floor was spacious and very comfortable. Requested firm pillows and they arrived within minutes. The hotel was recently refurbished and is in excellent condition. Note you will need a 3 pin ZA adaptor for electrical appliances. Great location in the safe V&A with friendly professional staff. Why not 5star rating? For 2 out of our 4 days the bar, restaurant and outside terrace was closed to residents in favour of private functions. We paid 2000 Rand for a day room on our last day as our flight was not until 21.00 only to find restaurant, bar and terrace out of bounds to residents after breakfast. Had we known we would not have spent 2000 Rand. We last stayed here back in 2009 and we were looking forward to returning but left somewhat disappointed.

The hotel is lovely, clean and helpful. Fantastic position right on the waterfront, wonderful breakfasts. Unfortunately completely spoilt by the theft of money from my room. They promised to make a full enquiry using access cards and CTV, but inevitably nothing came of it. So sad.

Our LARGE bedroom was extremely comfy and clean. We had a piazza facing room which was lovely as we could sit and watch the buskers each day if we wanted to. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we felt very at home. In the Ginga restaurant the food was second to none and the cocktails were great too. I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Dreadful experience. Stayed for 3 nights. For 2 nights, there was a mining conference being held in the hotel. We were not advised in advance but found out later n the evening. Bar and restaurant were closed to residents and all seating (including outside along the Waterfront) cordoned off for delegates (from 1pm) - even though they weren't arriving until 7pm and then all went inside. To get a drink we were told to go to the room, order room service and then we could either stay in the room or bring back down to the reception area. When challenged the Duty Manager as to whether we could sit outside on the Waterfront, he said 'no' as it was reserved for the conference guests who were 'important' - clearly implying that paying guests didn't matter. Air conditioning wasn't working - maintenance said it was preset at 25 degrees and there was nothing he could do. A most depressing way to experience our very first visit to South Africa. Couldn't wait to leave.
