This is a bit different to a standard hotel as you stay in cute thatched rondavels .Like many other reviewers we only passed through for one night, but the staff were very friendly and the restaurant food was very good. Immaculate grounds and setting, would have no problem staying again More

I spent one night here with a group, and stayed in a chalet which was perfectly acceptable. The pool is small, but OK for a dip. Food was OK (ostrich was on the menu, of course, and was apparently very good), but a bit difficult to see as the restaurant was rather dark. More

We usually plan our trips well in advance, but we changed our itinerary at the last minute and end up in Oudtshoorn to find a place to sleep before visiting Cango Caves next morning. Most of the nice guesthouse were fully booked because of weddings, or too expensive just to spend a night (1500 to 2000 Rands just to sleep... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and would have liked longer. Rooms are a bit dated but clean with good air con. 20 min. walk into town. Enjoyed the restaurant and the ostrich was perfectly cooked. Very helpful staff. Peacefull setting with beautifully kept grounds. Small pool, great for cooling off after a hard day at the caves & elephant park. More

Visited the hotel twice already this year and when I went again for the 3RD time I sweared to myself I'll never go there again. The menu is always the same, they have a few options to choose from, they serve their menu with fried chips and bread always. NO Rice, Pap or Pasta, bread is boring to eat it... More

Stayed in one of the roundavels, which unfortunately was very dated and did not feel very clean nor comfortable. Perhaps the standard rooms are a better choice if they have been renovated more recently. Breakfast quality was better than average. Overall good value. More

Ourdoor chalets with a lovely garden - this is an standard hotel near the caves and cango ranch - the rooms were quite nice and the meals were good value for the price. The hotel is fully functional and serves its purpose - we enjoyed our stay and would revisit - I would recommend more tours and activities are offered... More

We stayed at the Protea Hotel Riempie Estate from the 17th – 19th August 2009. My party consisted of two adults and two children (aged 10 and 8 years). The thatched hut type accommodation whilst not spacious is at least clean. The two double beds were sufficient for a family of four (just). The only problem concerns soundproofing; you can... More

Quirky hotel with a series of individual thatched huts standing in immaculate grounds. Friendly reception staff and room was OK, albeit some of the room furniture was a little dated and showing its age... All was well until late afternoon when our neighbours on one side arrived with one small dog that remained sight unseen but proceeded to yap its... More

Was a little aprehensive about this hotel given it is cheap and looked to be not like your normal hotel ! Was pleasently surprised however... Checkin was easy, the staff on the front desk were very friendly and we were given the key to our suite Each "room" is a thatched hut, so you have your own little space! Very... More
