We recently spent two nights at Lyngrove Guesthouse and do not believe that the 5 star rating is justified. The grounds are beautiful but the rooms and house require a bit of maintenance, and a lack of hands-on management was evident in the quality of food served and general service levels. A disappointing stay in the Winelands.

Lyngrove was the venue for a small one day mini-conference of about 10 people. Delegates flew in on Thursday evening and were greeted by friendly staff and a glass of sparking wine. The food was well prepared and enjoyable. As we ate as a group, the menu to buffet style rather than a la carte. We enjoyed tasting a range... More

Lyngrove Manor was obviously a very beautiful and gracious private home at one time, set on a small farm in a peaceful and very convenient location, close to wine estates and restaurants, between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. The grounds remain immaculately kept, and we had a very pleasant stay. Privately owned it has 5 star guest house status, our thoughts... More

Just Charming! Comfortable rooms, great service and outstanding breakfast. We were so busy trying to take everything in, we didn't get to spend a whole lot of time taking in the grounds or enjoying the peaceful surrounding but what I did experience was first rate.

This guesthouse is very elegant and homey at the same time. Ia, the manager, made us a great middle-of-the-week, 3-night winter deal that came with a delicious breakfast--your choice of hot dishes (like eggs, french toast, flapjacks, or oatmeal, etc.) in addition to a continental spread--very generous. The rooms were spotless and comfortable with little added touches like chocolates on... More

After years of visiting South Africa we finally got to go to the Cape. My cousin booked us into Lyngrove Estate. I was apprehensive as I wanted to stay in Cape Town city. I should not have been. The place is great. Only half an hours drive from the city. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful. The rooms were... More

Stayed at Lyngrove last month when we were in Stellenbosch for a friend´s wedding. The B&B itself was lovely -- generously sized rooms, scrumptous breakfast, friendly staff. However, we had quite a bit of trouble getting to the inn itself. We´d hired a car & driver for the weekend (wanted to be able to enjoy that delish South African vino!)... More

The conclusion of our SA trip & the this was planned as a highlight and the most expensive accomodation we encountered on this trip. Booking by e/mail we negotiated a rate reduction over the rack rate, additionally we were offered a superior house room as opposed to the more recently added on courtyard style rooms. A lovely location remote from... More

We stayed at the Lyngrove in Nov. of 2006 for our honeymoon. The Lyngrove was certainly one of the highlights of our trip. The house and the grounds are kept very well and the service was great. We were only able to stay one night in the area, but wanted to stay much longer. Everything from the greeting upon arrival,... More
