Lusia’s Lagoon Chalets are a refreshing hideaway, which offers an eco-tourism experience distinct from other commercialized resort accommodations on the big island of Savai'i. If you are looking for somewhere a little different, somewhere relaxing, we are the place you have been looking for! The hotel grounds are lush with many tropical plants and flowers, towering and rare native ifilele trees, natural cool-water tide pools, and a large deck situated over the lagoon: the perfect place for sipping a cocktail and relaxing while the worries of the world drift away. Guests to the hotel will enjoy taking advantage of Lusia’s unique rustic environment, and connecting to the “real Samoa” through casual conversations with friendly staff from local villages, traditional Samoan cuisine, and plentiful sightings of sea turtles, fish, crabs, snails, lizards and other island creatures. Take a dip in our turquoise lagoon, book a day tour, or for the more adventurous: try snorkeling or kayaking to view the amazing variety of marine life! Local, responsibly sourced, souvenirs are also available on-site. Lusia’s Lagoon is located within walking distance of both the inter-island ferry wharf and the main marketplace on Savai’i island, providing easy access for daytime visitors and hotel guests to enjoy all Savai’i has to offer. Accommodation ranges from self contained air conditioned units to shared facility "over the water fales" and budget accommodation. It would be our pleasure to share our unique Savai’i island chalets with you. We look forward to welcoming you into the Lusia’s Lagoon Family!

We will never book again. The rooms are run down shacks. The walkway to the rooms are a dirt track so when it rains there are big fat snails everywhere. There were no towels, flannel provided. The bedding did not smell fresh, it looked old, worn and had a musty smell. Tea and coffee sachets are provided. The creamer sachets were all hard so it was obviously very old. Some of the website pictures are deceiving.

Response from LusiasLagoonChalets, Public Relations Manager at Lusia's Lagoon Chalets

Talofa Lise, We're sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We welcome any constructive feedback that we can pass along to our team to help improve our performance for future guests. We do kindly ask you to remember Samoa's tropical climate, however, and that Lusia's Lagoon Chalets is intentionally set into the Samoan rainforest as an eco-tourism destination. This means that at times humidity can contribute significantly to your environment, and that creatures like snails, crabs and mosquitoes who live near the sea or in our lush tropical vegetation will always be around when conditions permit. Fa'afetai, and we hope you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Samoa!

Thank you again Lusia for a perfect stay. I stayed at Lusia's with a Samoan family I know (Couple and three children) and it was gret for the adults and children. It is always a delight to see Lusia again, I have stayed there once or twice a year for over 10 years and the place is consistantly the highlight of any Pacific travel. Location unreal, staff amazing, food excellent. My thanks again to everyone there.

WE stayed overnight as we needed to take the 6 am ferry. This resort is very convenient to the ferry at affordable prices. The food was very good. We enjoyed the sashimi and Oka. Staff were attentive but a little slow but that is how it is in Samoa.

We stayed only 1 night in this accommodation but it was enough. The infrastructures are very old but it's not the worst. Many rubbish were everywhere on the floor around our bedroom and we couldn't use the swimming pool because it was full of bottles of plastic. Staff is not professionnal and not welcoming. I don't recommand this place.

We stayed at Lusia's unexpectedly when our ferry crossing was cancelled due to a severe storm. We have a very restricted diet and Lusia took great trouble to make sure we were looked after at every meal. The room was very comfortable and our entire stay was really enjoyable. The setting is fabulous, right on the water. We would be very happy to come back and to recommend Lusia's to other travellers.

First impression: the hotel sign board falling apart, so many signage of extra charges - wifi hotspot only in the common area of $17 tala for 1 hour only. Room service $50 tala. Breakfast menu given (breakfast included showed three items at the value of $16 tala) anything above you must pay the difference. Room - had to fiddle around with the main door before you can actually open it. The fridge is mouldy, floor board is loose and has gaps therefore allowing ants, rats, worms and centipedes into the room. The room itself is infested with termites. The bathroom was dirty. The balcony was shared so no privacy if the room next to you is occupied. The plastic white chairs was absolutely filthy and a dead pot plant was the decor. It’s a shame because it’s such a beautiful spot however everything about the place is rundown and filthy. The food is good and the view is great and that’s about it. Some staff are lovely and the others seem to be disinterested. A guest feedback form was filled out and given before checking out. No acknowledgement of the feedback on check out. Not a place I would recommend to my family or friends. I have stayed at better backpackers and 3 star resorts that have better quality rooms and services and is value for money.

Absolutely beautiful setting. Close to Salelologa township. Air con worked well as did showers. Comfortable bed and clean. Two levels of accommodation, budget fales above lagoon, and standard rooms, but nothing flash. Had some nice staff and some disinterested staff. Unfortunately, the food in the restaurant was well overpriced. Overall, Lusia did the job, but we just felt there was better value in other places.

We booked a fale over the water as it looked lovely on the photos. It was basically a shack with no charm to it at all. We were given a padlock for the door and told to be very careful. The path to the toilet block was full of roots, uneven, and badly lit and the toilets/showers we were shown initially were disgusting. Apparently that was the staff toilet and the other toilet/shower block did look cleaner however was a long way away from the fale. We requested an upgrade and this was better and had a hot shower, but the walls in the toilet and bedrooms were quite dirty. We thought the meals were expensive. The breakfast was nice, but would have preferred the buffet style breakfast that had at other accommodation. There was rubbish around the pool and in the backyard of the neighbouring properties around the lagoon which was an eyesore and unfortunately would eventually end in the sea. We stayed at far nicer places around Samoa where we had better meals, and accommodation, which were much cheaper. However, the staff were pleasant and very helpful and the dining area was very nice although quite dark. The deck area around the lagoon was also a good place to relax.

Had a excellent stay in the R16 room. Air conditioned and own shower, comfortable beds and mosquito proof rooms. If you want to experience traditional Samoan culture and meet the locals then come here. It was a pleasure to meet Lusia and the other women who worked here. 🌴🌈❤️ Make sure you pack tropical insect repellent and a moquito bed net then your set 👌
