If you need to find a place to relax, hike or just sit and soak in beautiful Portugese vistas, stop at the Casa da Levada. Here's a spoiler: the owners, Maria and Luis will make you feel at home! We enjoyed having dinners with them, talking about life and getting advice on traveling around. Their gorgeous old granite house is... More

Words cannot really describe our very, very brief one night stay at Levada but I shall try without cringing. After reading the rave reviews from previous guests we found the same scenery, same beautiful views and same fortress feel but different owners. Probably attacked and eaten by the present ones we met. So. In dot point form the list of... More

Casa de Levada was an absolutely wonderful place to visit. The building has so much great character, you almost feel like you are living like people did hundreds of years ago. The house is up on a mountain side, and has spectacular views. The area is extremely quiet and relaxing. Luis and Maria are great hosts. We ate dinner with... More

What a fantastic location! We had an enjoyable stay here up in the mountains. We were made very welcome by Luis the owner & had a lovely meal with our hosts the first evening. We stayed in the cowshed room which was rustic but met our needs well & had a nice outside space to enjoy the stunning views. Definately... More

A wonderful Pousada nestled in a tiny village in the north of Portugal. The village itself is charming and completely secluded, but conveniently close to Amarante. Luis and his wife are wonderful hosts, and Luis has a wealth of good advice about visiting places in the area. A great place to really get away from it all, but it's also... More

Would highly recommend staying at the Casa da Levada. Luis and Maria are extremely charming hosts. We stayed in beautiful historical rooms. I believe the property is over 300 years and has been in Luis's family since that time. Its origins go back to the 17th century. The house is located in a high mountain village where life seems like... More

We were for 4 nights in Casa de Levada and had a wonderful staying. Maria and Louis were perfect for me, my wife and Lorenzo (3 years old). the place is quiteful and relaxed, so ancient that some people still wash the clothes in the public swim. Seems to be in another century. Maria and Louis had the dinners always... More

A wonderful two night stay was far too short. Maria and Louis were the perfect hosts - knowledgable, enthusiastic, discreet and friendly. This was our first real B&B experience in someone else's home and wow, what a home! The place is stunning, but offers all the creature comforts you could need. The views are stupendous and the approach an education.... More

Only stayed one night as guests of the delightful and charming hosts Maria & Luis, would have liked to have stayed longer to really unwind in this unique setting perched high in the hills with stunning views and almost medieval setting but with all the comforts of the 21st century. An 'away from it all' sort of place with only... More
