We stayed here for one night as we were going to a party nearby. We had a room overlooking West Street. Which meant there was double-glazing or open the window and lots of noise (including three local boys having a fight at 2am) - eventually we opened the bathrooms windows and propped the door open to get some oxygen through.... Friendly staff yes, quality rooms: far from it. The rooms look old, very old. Some of the furniture seems to be older than the hotel itself (and I don’t mean retro, vintage). A straightforward example: stained and partially shredded towels in the bathroom. Not acceptable for £60 a night. More

The hotel feels like a work in progress. The reception, bar area and breakfast room were all light, well decorated and modern, but the rooms though comfortable were very dated and tired looking. The rooms are distinctly average, with a premier travel inn style. If things have been refurbished then they forgot the bathroom in mine, the grout was yellow and the bathroom tap loose. Beds are comfortable but you certainly couldn't sleep with the window open, the noise from the dual carriageway would creep in. The pub and it's staff are fantastic... More
