Visited here for one night, meeting 3 colleagues who also stayed. Rooms were very good with some nice old features, but had every modern amenity. The setting is excellent in the village of East Witton and the former coach house is picture post card. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the meal in the restaurant was first class with... Very atmospheric: a bar with an open fire, settles, wooden floorboards... First rate food and good beer and wines. Friendly staff and no-one batted an eyelid as I sat sewing a large piece of medieval clothhing! Small but comfortable room with rather complex shower. We may well be back.

We stayed at the Blue Lion for 2 nights over 4-6 April. We booked into one of the superior rooms in the Courtyard - room 14. The room was spacious and comfortable, and as previous reviewers mention, plenty of hot water, nice clean bathroom and underfloor heating. I had arranged a bottle of champagne on arrival which was waiting, well... More

This delightful inn was a perfect escape, with a huge log fire and quiet garden. The room was small, but perfectly appointed and clean, with a comfy bed. The dinner was so very perfectly delicious. The wine list excellent, if a little pricey. Just two reservations. Firstly, we were in room four and we were disturbed by the sound of... More

Back for the tenth time, this time with a four year old and a six year old in tow... Settling into a seat by the fire in the bar and all worries seem miles away. Such a warm welcome, happy to feed the children first and then us after we'd put them to bed. They adapted food for the children... More

We stayed 2 nights for our sons 40th Birthday, we stayed in the main building but would of preferred to stay in a courtyard room as these were much bigger. Food overall was good, but we did not enjoy are steaks on the Saturday night, we raised this with Paul, he was very apologetic. Although on a cold night a... More

My husband and I have stayed twice in the last four years. Our first stay in the summer of 2009 was in the main building, at that time the room we had was a little tired and in need of updating.the latest stay was 27th March 2013, this time we stayed in a courtyard room and found this much better.... Thank you for your comments - I'm pleased you liked the courtyard room which is much more contemporary in style than many of our other more traditional rooms. I will pass on your comments to our staff, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. More

We were invited back to the blue lion this evening with our daughter and son after a disappointing Sunday lunch on Mothering Sunday. After raising our concerns with Paul he was most apologetic about the service and quality of the food we received and duly invited us back for him to prove to us that it was just a blip... More
