We were en route to Newcastle for the Great North Run, but chose to sabotage all training by sampling the delights of Rookery Cottage and our charming hosts, Ursula and Ronnie. We contacted Rookery Cottage back in April. We were holidaying in the UK from Australia accompanied by my unwell and elderly mother. We were looking for authentic B and B's and used the Alaistair Sawaday's Special Places to Stay, British Bed and Breakfast Book.
