A group of us stayed for the Newton Stewart Walkfest and were very well taken care of by the attentive staff. The housekeeping staff were especially helpful in dealing with all our wet walking gear, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the service in the dining room was efficient and nothing was too much trouble. We dined in the... More

Super staff, great food..... all at a good price in a central location for exploring Galloway, Scotland All staff were very pleasant and helpful, and Robert was exemplary in his desire to provide excellent service. A very good short break.

Very welcoming and well organised. Attentive staff who make your stay a pleasure. A popular hotel that has a bit of life about it. most impressed by the customer service, from everyone from the housekeepers to the bar, reception and waiting/kitchen team. I wouldn't hesitate to come back. Particularly recommend staying on a Thursday night as the pub quiz is... More

I ran a short course in the hotel and stayed there for a week and the staff were fantastic. They went above and beyond to support both myself and those on the course. The food was lovely and I had a comfy room. I was given an extra heater as I am a cold tattie. I was most impressed by... More

My family and I stayed at the Bruce hotel several times over the last six months, as we were visiting my elderly mother till she died. The manager and all staff were very empathetic to our needs , even letting our dog come with us. The bar meals at night were excellent , even though we had a vegetarian and... More

We stayed for one night in March, it was -4 outside and -4 inside our musty smelly room, the radiator was barely warm and the heating went of shortly after we arrive and even with a blanket over the thinnest duvet I have ever encountered it was so cold we dare not move in bed for fear of the COLD... Visited in March, very cold, snow on hills, biting Arctic winds. And NO heating! Slept in cardigan & socks, but when we complained we were told heating is on a timer. Staff appeared surprised that heating was an issue, but supplied fan heater for room. We picked a table beside a radiator, but it wasn't on. Lovely breakfast spoiled by lack... More

Stayed for 2 nights. I found the 2 young staff particularly helpful and friendly, as well as the manager. The evening meals were excellent quality and the cooked breakfast was good. Unfortunately there was a problem with the alarm when I stayed so this is why "sleep" is marked down but this was a temporary problem I am sure.

Stayed overnight before catching an early ferry from Cairnryan. Nice room, impeccably clean with a big bathroom. Not at all busy but even so e young man on reception was charming and most helpful. The whole hotel was very clean, though stair carpets a little threadbare in places. Small car park at the back with some benches for when the... More

A brief stay at The Bruce hotel on our way to Ayrshire. We were made very welcome and had a good size bedroom with all the usual treats. On finding the bathroom radiator wasn't working a fan heater was quickly supplied. Both lunch and evening meal were very good. Many thanks to Callum and David for making our short stay a fine experience.
