i really wanted to enjoy this place so much and makes me sad to write a negative review. But here goes. The website should really describe this as a "bedouin-style" site - it's a tourist site using a mix of bedouin-style and other tents. The setting is beautiful, with a lovely siq to walk down and great views especially at... More

A fabulous experience. Friendly people. Perfect setting as the sun sets and the magic creeps upon you. Huge quantities of food, and prepared as you watch. Fabulous bread Dips of such quality Meats cooked underground with such succulence. Don't miss this. Of course it is touristy but it really feels authentic

We spent 1 night there as a family of 4. A really fun adventure. The staff were lovely, the location fantastic, the food delicious and the social and atmosphere was really fun and a lovely change from hotels. I'd highly recommend.

Thanks to my friends for finding The Rock campsite for our recent two-day visit to Petra, Jordan. It sounded like an exciting adventure when they first told me about it and turned out to be a very special place. All you've heard about gracious Bedouin hospitality is true. The staff made us feel like honored family. While our tents were... More

First off, let me start with the positive: the food was very good and the staff was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed how friendly and helpful Mahmoud and Ismael were and Hala was great in helping provide us information on traveling to the Rock Camp and visiting Petra. Now, the downside: we had very high expectations for the Rock... More

This was good fun! We only stayed for 1 night, but would recommend it to anyone that is interested to do something slightly different. Make sure you arrive before 7pm so you don't miss the chicken-from-a-hole dinner and the natural eyeliner-fun before. Also try the 8% Petra beer! As you would've read before, it can get quite chilly (we were... More

I wasn't sure what to expect of this evening, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday. The Rock Camp is in the desert, and faces west (all the better for watching the sun go down). We drove down a rutted track, making us think we were in the middle of nowhere. The camp site... More

We stayed at the Rock Camp for a night prior to exploring Petra. It was a unique experience - the camp has a magical atmosphere, particularly during the evening meal where you can enjoy an excellent buffet (lamb cooked in an underground oven on-site!), a traditional campfire and music under amazing clear starry skies - the campsite is decorated beautifully... I was not expecting much as this was an included outing on a Voyages Jules Verne Holiday. but It was a fascinating experience. We went for dinner at sunset to this place that seemed to be miles for anywhere with no built structures around and were greeted by a bedouin woman roasting cardamom seeds in a heavy metal pan over... This is a wonderful way to spend a night. We came here after a day at Petra. The food was excellent. To get the special meal experience, be sure to ask how many people are staying the night you book. They require 6 or 8 people minimum to do the full meal experience. Mahmoud and Ishmael were fantastic hosts and... More
