We were greeted with a warm welcome from both Jean and Ray after a long and exhausting walk from Melrose, as we reached the end of our first day on the St Cuthberts Way. The comfort of the house, the evening meal and breakfast were excellent and and all served to endorse the previous reviews of Crailing Old School. We... More

The first sight that greeted us as we walked the last half-mile of our day's walking from Melrose was a line of flagposts marking Crailing Old School. Alongside the Scottish saltire, the Union flag and the Devon flag marked the country we were in, the nationality of the visitors and the Devon roots from which our hosts had originally come.... More

Yet another traveller on St Cuthbert's Way and blessed to have found such a hospitable place to stay for my first night after a driech day. Jean gave a warm welcome along with lashings of tea in front of a warm log fire; perfect for tired legs to sink into the comfy sofa. Dinner was excellent, beautifully spiced parsnip soup,... More

Just stayed here whilst walking the St Cuthberts Way. It was superb. The accommodation and food were fantastic. Jean's cooking was better than most fancy, expensive restuarants. Nothing was a bother for the wonderful hosts. We could have easily stayed longer.

We too had a tiring first stage of the St Cuthbert’s Way and arrived at this paradise in the middle of nowhere. We were welcomed by Jean and ushered into the comfort of the maple room. After a shower and time to relax we dined on perfectly steamed asparagus on which nestled lightly poached quails eggs, followed by chicken breasts... More

I absolutely loved this place! At the end of a long day's walking on the St. Cuthbert's Way, it was like coming home... I arrived a bit bedraggled on a damp afternoon, and nothing was too much trouble for the landlady, sorting out my wet gear, plus, there was a nice fire in the living room, fantastic food, it was... While walking St Cuthbert's Way we ended up at Crailing Old School only because we couldn't find anywhere in Ancrum and that was lucky for us. Our reception was very friendly and welcoming and house, garden, room and meals were all superb. The dining room display included a certificate for second place in "Landlady of the Year" and I'd love... More

What a perfect B&B - the atmosphere was charming, the rooms very clean and comfortable with every desirable amenity, the visitor lounge very relaxing, but best of all were the hosts and the amazing food! My boyfriend and I had a very enjoyable stay and the breakfasts were possibly my favorite ever at a B&B - yum! Jean and Ray... More

This must be one of the best B&B''s in the Uk. It's an old school with a very nice lounge. The rooms are very nice and also very clean. They serve the breakfast what you want; continental or English. The landlady and her husband are very helpfull and friendly, they arranged all our rounds of golf, and gave us advice... More
