however we loved this hotel so thought we would come and add our thanks to the other reviewers who lead us to it and not least to the lovely couple who own it. As others have stated there are works in progress on the ground floor but in no way were we put about. Our room was comfortable and inviting... More

When we arrived at the spread eagle we were met at the door by the owner . John , who was very attentive and friendly - explaining that the place was undergoing serious renovation . We were shown to our room which was very well finished and presented . Very laid back relaxing atmosphere . The full Scottish breakfast was... More

The hotel is currently undergoing some restoration so our first challenge was finding our way in- and way about! This is an old building, in the centre of Jedburgh, and convenient for the Abbey, Mary Queen of Scots house and as a walking base. The owners are ambitious with a big project in hand- very friendly and informative and most... More

My husband and I stayed there just for one night whilst we were travelling around on our tandem. The husband and wife team who own the place were very friendly and they found somewhere dry and safe for our tandem. The room was comfortable and clean with everything we needed. What stood out for me was the food. The menu... More

My Fiance and I stayed at the Spread Eagle for one night in Mid March while competing in the Border Counties Rally that takes place in Jedburgh. I will admit that we only accidently came across the hotel and because of the lateness in booking we could only get there luxury room (hotels fill up fast when the rally comes... More

We stayed at the Spread Eagle for four nights at the end of September and were very happy with our overall experience. Having not visited the Scottish Borders for over 30 years, we'd forgotten what a beautiful area it is, and the Spread Eagle made an ideal base to see the region. Arriving at the hotel, our initial reaction was... More

We stayed here for one night in October. The hosts were very friendly, the room beautifully decorated and the breakfast was stellar, one of the best we've had. It loses a star, and this is a personal thing, due to the bed. We found it uncomfortable and difficult to sleep but I guess a bed and mattress are an individual... More

We had a family room which was clean, though some of the wallpaper was peeling off the wall. Having wifi was good, though the connextion was poor and kept on crashing. Breakfast was definately a redeeming factor though. good value for money all round. More

This Hotel is in a great location in the centre of Jedburgh. It has good facilities for families, a large lounge with board games and jigsaw puzzles and the room we had was lovely and spacious. There appeared to be no lounge bar or bar in it's own right, a bit strange, but the restaurant had drinks from a small... More

The Spread Eagle claims to be the oldest continually licensed hotel in Scotland (since 1604, I think the owner said.) You can sense the age of the place in some of the obviously uneven and sloping floors, but the newly refurbished rooms offered easily the smartest and best facilities of our whole trip. They are brand new, with bathrooms with... More
