We started out in the Robin's Roost Rm. which was nicely decorated with fresh paint. Shortly after we arrived in the room we noticed that the toilet fill valve kept cycling on and off. We mentioned this to the caretaker and she said she would check it out when we went to dinner but said that we could change rooms... More

Hospitality (cherry bottle, DVDs, living rooms, outdoor sitting, chimney, kitchen - all at our disposal), comfortable rooms (had king size bed in a king sized room with garden view, jaccuzzi, massage shower) and 3 course breakfast. Just 1 night on our long road trip - but what a nice change after 5 motels in a row. 168 dollars, tax included,... More

We stayed here in late September, it was very nice. While writing this review I've noticed another about the same place saying it's generic with only occasional contact with owners, I could not disagree, when we arrived there was nobody at home. The house was open and we wandered about until we found a sign informing us to call via... More

We stayed in Bidwell House for three days and it was rather unpleasant experience. This is more of a generic small hotel than a bed-and-breakfast. The contact with owners is sporadic. Our room (Rose) was dated, with unusable chairs. In the bathroom, there was no fan and you had to open window sacrificing your privacy (no curtains!). Food mediocre, the... More

We stayed at the Bidwell House for 3 nights in late June while visiting nearby Lassen NP. We first stayed in the Stover-McKenzie Cottage. This was ideal as it allowed us to spread out (2 adults/3 kids) and relax. The cottage is cozy with a separate kitchen. The wood stove was a great treat (it was still in the 30's... More

We stayed in the Bidwell Suite A. Pros: Pleasant, helpful, polite staff once we finally met them. Great, gourmet breakfast . Fair price ($150). Clean. Spacious room. Lovely wood-burning fireplace in room for cold nights. Quiet room and property overall. Nice garden and lawn. Comfortable common seating area with plenty of books, board games, and an outdoor porch to sit... More

This will sound odd, but the coffee was dishwater. It remained so, even after the second or third pot had been brewed - by their hired cook/chef. It was so consistently poor, that I switched to tea my first morning. I so distrusted the first day's coffee that I drove out for coffee the second day - before attending breakfast.... More

The rooms are clean and decorated nicely. Lots of antiques. The lawn, garden, flowers, gazebo, are relaxing. We loved to watch the resident deer venture out in the evening. The owners and staff were friendly. Breakfasts were elegant and delicious! Helpful advice: If you are not going to use the clawfoot bathtubs then I would ask for a room with... More
