Hotel rooms do not have tvs or radios. What a nice change! We talked and read the journals going all the way back to the 1980's. Such great stories about the guests that have stayed in Room No. 5 including stories about the resident ghost Flo. The staff was the best, the food outstanding and the rooms are very clean.... More

This is a great bed and breakfast if you are looking to get a real good feel for the history of the area. It is not over restored or updated, enough for comfort and convenience while keeping the charm and atmosphere. We had a room in front which was great for looking out over the town, but a bit noisy... I have stayed here twice. Both times the staff has been great, the food in their restaurant is very good. Michael the bar tender is one of the best. You can always count on him for a funny story and a good drink. I have traveled all over the world and this place is one of my favorites. Always a... More

This place is beautiful. Full of antiques. It felt like I was back in the "old west" days. The perfect place to stay on a trip along the Golden Chain Highway (49). Stayed 2 nights. Good location to travel out during the day to other towns nearby then come back for a nice dinner and a drink in the saloon.... More

Debra, we're so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We were glad to have you as a guest. We do try to keep the noise down from the bar as best as we can by 10:30 on weekends but, on occasion, a few people are still with us as we're about to close. Our policy is not to... More

Wow, what a great place. Beautifully and authentically restored to what it might have looked like in 1859. The bar was great, friendly, and well stocked. The upstairs landing, hall area was lovely, and the room/bathroom was perfect. They have a ghost named "Flo," too, which add to the charm of the place - though we didn't see or hear... More

I used this hotel as 'the something different' on my round the world trip. The service is perfect and the barman Brian has all the best tips. The hotel is well restored and has it packed with period furnishings. The food was good and reasonably priced. I dove down to Yosemite National Park for the day and the hotel packed... More

Beautiful place, beautiful hotel. The man that appears to run it was very helpful and the staff were polite. The rooms were clean and small, but hey, they would be, it's a hotel from the 1800's. They didn't have an entire corner of the hotel room for your laptop in those days! Old fashioned decor, dressers, beds, bathroom suites but... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it! As I understand most people just pass through Jamestown – but I recommend a day here to relax. It is just as much “gold rush” feeling as you can get with Victorian decorated rooms, a romantic Victorian soak tub (just for relaxation, the rooms have private modern baths),... More

The hotel certainly had character but our stay was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The pillows on our bed, whilst in clean pillowslips, were dirty and smelled bad and the pillowshams and spare pillows were very dirty and I had to ask for replacements. They were not much better. The bed was tiny and the room incredibly hot. The... More

Not sure where to start with this review. Normally, we thank the reviewer if they have brought a defect or specific shortcoming to our attention, but in this case, we were hit with a broadside approach of which we can find little to improve. Some of the problem may have been due to "cultural differences". 1. We have an assortment... More

Jamestown is a sweet little Gold Country town, and that character is maintained in the historic hotel, with great attention to detail in the decor and architecture. Excellent, friendly service. It was specialty Martini night on Thursday in the bar, so I indulged in a frosty, fruity pom-tini. We had a special birthday dinner with good recommendation for a nice... More
