It's quite easy to stay in bigger and more luxurious hotels in Mammoth Lakes or in much cheaper hotels in Bishop. But besides the beauty of this place staying in Lee Vining saves time to quickly get to Mono Lake, Bodie Gost Town and then to the Yosemite NP (via Tioga Pass) and make all these points in one day.... Very plain - that is to say ugly - on the outside but clean, spacious and comfortable on the inside. No frills - lobby is size of a large closet. To be honest, there's not much acocmmodation in the Lee Vining area. It is in the middle of nowhere on the eastern side of Yosemite by a lake.
