I recently stayed here for 2 nights to attend a conference. Following is the summary of my experience: Pros: comfortable beds, reasonably sized rooms, flat screen TV, friendly & helpful staff. Cons: outdated bathroom, street noise despite being on the 16th floor, internet problems (no VPN). Also, we stayed in for dinner on the first night and regret that now.... More

I have not stayed at the Kyoto Grand for over fifteen years. I have to admit that they have done a remarkable job of maintaining this hotel property. It looks and feels just like it did on my last visit. They hotel is up for renovation and will become a Doubletree Tree Hotel by Hilton property. Renovations are under way.... More

Thank you for the great review! The hotel really is in a fantastic location if you’re interested enjoying the diversity and culture that Los Angeles has to offer and that you obviously enjoyed on your visit. Again, thanks for the feedback, the great review, and we look forward to your next visit. More

Good hotel, friendly and helpful staff Pluses: relatively good situation downtown, shuttle service easily available. Liitle Toky nearby. Minuses: Hispeed internet is very slow, 10$ charge per day. (writing this review in a Senegal, Dakar hotel with free really hispeed internet). Being European it doesn't give a good feeling to leave the hotel with a bill that is 70% higher... More

Thank you for the constructive feedback. We agree with you that the internet service WAS very slow, which is why we've replaced the entire system with a new vendor. The speeds are much faster now with each user exceeding 2 megabits downstream and 1 megabit upstream. These speeds are generally fast enough for user friendly internet browsing and streaming video.... More

In 2012, in-room wifi should be as standard as in-room TV and coffee-maker. Hotels like this that charge $10 per day for in-room wifi are simply gouging customers, and I don't appreciate it. Even less did I appreciate that when I paid the charge, the signal was so weak, I had to go down to the lobby to get online.... More

I'm sorry you had some concerns during your last stay. We agree with you, the speed of the internet WAS very slow which is why we had the entire system replaced from the ground floor to the 21st floor. Each user’s internet speed now exceeds 2 megabits downstream and 1 megabit upstream, which is more than sufficient for web browsing... More

I have stayed at the Grand Kyoto a handful of times. It has a beautiful lobby and very friendly staff, but the scheduled renovation is timely. The Grand Kyoto is on the edge of Japan town and is more or less attached to a plaza with a Japanese Grocery store, very nice Japanese book store (Kinokuniya) and various other shops.... More

Thank you for the feedback. As you noted in your review we’re currently in the process of a multimillion dollar renovation. The renovation addresses many of your concerns including a complete demolition of the bathrooms, flat screen televisions, and the entire color scheme is being changed from the oranges and pinks to beautiful and welcoming earth tones. I think you... More

Only stayed one night so didn't get to explore all the hotel had to offer but the room was great and the Starbucks situated at the back of hotel was exceptionally helpful given our very early start the next day. The staff were helpful with all our questions. More

We had a great time at the Kyoto Grand Hotel & Gardens. The gardens are amazing - zen - relaxing. Hotel is awesome. Extremely comfortable. Most importantly, the entire staff made us feel like we were royalty. Can't wait to come back and stay here. It's a great business hotel but also a wonderful place for friends or family that... More

I and my wife stayed in for one night and got a room on 16th Floor. Sadly the view is not worth the height. However, what we didn't like was that for everything right from Hotel Parking, Drinking Water, TV Channels, Internet we had to pay extra. Also the Room size is not more than 150 Sq Ft. At Price... I apologize you didn't enjoy your stay. I thought it important to inform you that most full service downtown urban hotels charge for the services you mentioned in your review. This is not in any way unique to the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens. With this said, we appreciate the feedback. More
