We stayed here during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am when rooms were very hard to find, and was pleased to find this Inn with such a good location and reasonable rates. The rooms do feel a bit like a motel, but ours opened out the back onto a very nice patio that had character. The breakfast room was small but... More

On the website, the Inn looks like an attractive old building - however, most of the rooms are actually in an ugly motel-style block. We has been looking forward to arriving at a place with some character, so we felt disappointed and cheated. The room we were in had very little natural light, which was depressing and not good for... More

Great location near Fisherman's Wharf, downtown Monterey and Cannery Row. We had room #10 (safari themed room) and loved it. Super comfortable bed, French doors opening onto a small balcony overlooking a garden area. Breakfast was perfect for us - bagels, cream cheese, hot cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, selection of fruits, orange juice, fresh pastries, tea and delicious coffee... More

Pros: great location, great front door service, nice breakfast, free parking, and the history behind it. Cons: paper-thin walls, TV not working, and for some reason, the layout of the Inn portion makes me think that I stayed in a motel, instead of a B&B.

Coming upon this inn after a long day was like hitting an oasis. This is a B&B located within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf and is quiet. The room was spacious with a fireplace and a log and matches for your convenience. The breakfast room was charming with hot cereal, croissants and hard-boiled eggs as well as the usual muffins,... We stayed one night so that we could head over to the aquarium and then spend the night before going home. We arrived about 4 hours before checking, but the room was ready so we got our keys and went up. There was a nice big patio where we had lunch, and then walked over to the aquarium. We stayed... We stayed for two nights at the Merritt House on our way to San Francisco. The room was large and very comfortable, also very clean. The breakfast was quite satisfying for us as we do not eat a large breakfast; cereal, bagels, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee& tea was ample! The location was perfect for Fisherman's Wharf and the staff was... More

My friends recently reserved the inn for their wedding guests. The inn was small enough that we took up most of the rooms. The courtyard and breakfast room proved to be the perfect place for everyone to meet and spend time together. The location was very near Fisherman's Warf and a slightly longer walk to Cannery Row. I was able... More

Stayed 2 nights in Monterey at the Merritt Inn during a coastal drive from San Fran to LA. Very accommodating family run inn. The rooms have all the essentials, are comfortable and have a lot of character, just what you're looking for if you're from out of town and only staying a short time. On site parking, free wi-fi, breakfast... More
