We hadn't expected anything extraordinary but were wowed by our accommodations at Dinah's--huge room with wet bar and refrigerator, small work/dining table & chairs and a charming view over the lagoon. Staff delightful at both check-in and check-out. Bonus having Trader Vic's for dinner/drinks/dessert and Dinah's Poolside for breakfast. Blessedly quiet, too! Quite a find among the many hotels/motels on... More

Thought I would surprise my girlfriend with something ecclectic in the way of lodging for our last few nights in California. This spot definitely delivered. Monster-sized rooms and super comfortable bedding. Great bathroom set-up too. Front desk staff were spot on and very professional. They really took care of us and took pains to make sure we visit them again... More

I went up to Palo Alto to be with my father who was having surgery at the Veteran's Hospital. I stayed at Dinah's because of the fine reviews on Tripadvisor and I was not disappointed. The room was "retro", but clean and quiet, with subtle little extras (like daily apples and chocolates and glass glasses) to separate it from a... More

From the road, this place looks like a hotel. And it's connection with the on-premesis Trader Vic's restaurant may seem questionable. Odd too that the front desk staff seemed exclusively male. But this is a great, great old-school place with giant, comfortable rooms and all the bells and whistles. Probably the best hotel stay I've had this year. They are... More

We booked a suite which was very spacious as was the bed which was extremely comfortable, one of those beds that you struggle to get out of in the morning. The pool is heated and eating a delicious breakfast by the pool is a tranquil experience. You must visit Trader Vic's which is on-site and have dinner and a few... More

Dinah's Garden Hotel was a very pleasant surprise. You should definitely select one of the higher-priced rooms as they have been beautifully renovated and are worth the extra cost. The poolside grill is charming, with very nice waiters - best if you stick to simple egg, pancake or sandwich options. We stayed three nights in April for a wedding and... More

I stayed three nights in April and the room was great! Very large, with bar sink, small refrig, table and one easy chair. TV was analog and therefore no HD. The only drawback is the flow restrictor on the bathroom sink was really saving water, it came out in a very small spray, but this was a minor problem. My... More

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you so much for staying with us and then taking time out of your schedule to write us such a lovely review. We are a “Green” hotel and have the water saving faucets as well as showerheads however this may be replaced upon guest request. So if ever you return and would like them switched out... More

Friendly welcome to what is in effect a large motel situated out of Palo Alto town centre on the main highway. We had a large quiet (away from highway) clean room with balcony overlooking garden and pool. Morning after arrival went to pool side 'cafe' and asked if it was where continental breakfast was served - told yes. Sat at... More

Absolutely love this place. It's old and a step back in time, but casually elegant. I always wish I had more time to enjoy sitting out on the back deck, in the adirondack chairs, reading my book and enjoying the lush vegetation and winding koi pond. Beds are very comfortable and love being treated with fresh apples for a homey... More

Dinah's Garden Hotel is a great spot in Palo Alto. Mid-price in an area that has either high end or low end accomodations. Could not ask for more. You might feel that you have landed in your grandparents Florida condo circa 1975, but don't let that put you off. The rooms are well appointed, with everything you need for a... More
