When you consider the Viscaya - think mansion from the 19th century turned into hotel with very few modern amenities! There are two flights of stairs leading up to the front door and two flights of stairs leading up to the rooms. Metered parking is in front of the hotel. The "free" parking is on the side streets. Be prepared... More

A friend of mine scheduled her wedding well over a year in advance for 10/10/10. The Vizcaya rushed her into putting a VERY large substantial deposit down because they, "already had one wedding booked and people were clamoring to reserve that date!" The groom had a serious medical emergency and due to the medical costs, they were forced to take... More

Great B&B within walking distance to downtown. Yes the carpets are a little stained and wrinkled but the room was nice (stayed in the coach house) with a big bathroom and nice showers. The breakfast was OK but stay away from the processed waffles and quiche (which they microwave to a nice soggy texture). Eggs and coffee were good with... More

I was planning my husbands “Birthday Celebration Week” and had made reservations to stay the Vizcaya Mansion well in advance for a “King Deluxe Room” in the Victorian mansion for the final night of our adventure. The website bragged about the fine setting…we were both excited to be surrounded in a lap of luxury. Once we arrived at about 7:30... More

Before visiting this hotel I read several reviews and decided to book even though a few mentioned dirty carpet and stains in various locations. When my wife and I arrived we were greeted and asked to wait in the lobby while another guest was checked in. Shortly after we were advised that we were upgraded to the cabin. To my... More

My husband was born and reared in Sacramento, so we visit there quite often. For many years we have been curious about the Vizcaya Inn and finally stayed there for 2 nights. We entered the big, beautiful house, filled out our registration paperwork, and then were asked if we would like to be told how to get to our room... More

I read the reviews, some very negative saying dirty, smells, etc., but many saying charming and attractive, so I had a little trepidation. But I and a colleague needed a night's lodging for a business conference, and the brand name hotels were over $200/room/night, so I took a chance and booked us two rooms at Vizcaya. I was pleasantly surprised.... More

I feel badly, but must agree with others that this inn really needs some TLC. The carpet in my room was worn and stained and the shower had pockets of mold - ugh. In general, I like places with some history, charm, and character, but this was not it. The common room was also not inviting or comfortable -- four... More

Great place to stay...was nice and quaint....staff was helpful and pleasant....breaksfast was great and room service was helpful....other guests were not considerate....they were loud and rude.....no consideration for guests sleeping after 5:30 a.m. They drug their suitcase down the stairs, slammed door and let alarm ring for 10 minutes at 4:45 a.m. Would stay again.... We had our wedding at the Vizcaya in 2007 and the customer service was very poor, downright unprofessional. The hotel coordinator arrived one hr. before the start of the ceremony (2 hrs later than promised), leaving our friends and families to set up the details she was supposed to attend to. The staff knew all along that the coordinator would... More
