I reviewed this place after my first stay, five weeks ago, and gave it a five star, glowing review. Boy, was I mislead. The room I had was a corner suite, of which there are only three or four. They are wonderful, and, according to the front desk, the only ones worthy of praise. This stay, I was in a “normal” suite. It was dire. Shabby, dirty, stained towels, a cushion with the stuffing coming out, alarm fittings hanging from the ceiling, and a hole in the bedding. The rooms facing the plaza are subjected to an amplified radio station all through the night, so sleep is very, very difficult. The desk in the lobby is rarely manned, just a phone number to call. The hotel has many long term residents, some of whom are a bit sketchy, and a few congregate by the front door. The lobby is amazing, as are the corner suites. I will never stay here again, and I recommend you don’t either.…

This was a very bad experience. We selected this hotel based on the room pictures on the hotel web site. The room bared absolutely no resemblance to the room/s we were given. The first room had no plug for the bedside light. Changed rooms and were again given a dark, small room. The door was almost impossible to close and open because it stuck so bad which could present a real danger in the event of a fire. The toilet stopped working after one flush. At 10 o'clock at night we were attempting to fix the chain. Ugh. There were no drain plugs for either the tub or sink. There were no tissues or hair dryer. The bathroom tiles were worn through and roughly plastered. Both the sink and tub enamel were worn through. The bathroom appeared untouched since the 1940's. We we promised an email, a reduced rate or refund by the front desk team member but received nothing. …

My husband and I like to stay in historic hotels when we travel rather than generic chains. This hotel exceeded our expectations. Clean, comfortable and charming, it gave us the kind of experience we were looking for. The mattress was good, the room older, but what you stay in an historic property for. NOT GENERIC, We were able to walk to all the sites we wanted to visit and the staff were so helpful when I left an item in the room. We would stay again.

The Historic Plains Hotel has seen better days, but it is such a classic hotel, that I enjoyed visiting it. The lobby and the public rooms are well taken care of. The guest rooms are a mixed lot. Our room was small but very adequate. The bed and bath were clean and fresh. We liked the overall ambience of the place.

We stopped in for dinner as part of a group tour visiting Cheyenne. The restaurant came highly recommended. We encountered multiple supply shortages when ordering food and drink, but expected that due to Covid supply chain issues. The staff was incredibly apologetic and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good meal. Our server Leslie even offered to deliver it to our hotel if it wasn’t ready on time! And the GM Corbin not only gave us a discount for the inconvenience, but also gave us a short tour of the historic hotel lobby on our way out. Please be patient and kind to those who are working under adverse circumstances, I promise you will be rewarded with kindness back to you. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat!

This hotel was the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I have traveled the world. They upcharged 300% during Frontier Days which I understand - they are running a business. The lobby and bar are quite charming as were some of the front desk staff but some of the front desk staff complained about how busy and flustered they were. Really? Do your job! The elevator is ridiculously small. The hallways are small, dingy and not lit well. Our room was disgusting. We had stains in the tub and sink. The bathroom floor was filthy. We took a hotel towel and tried to clean it ourselves and it turned black. The carpet is old and musty. The view of the room was a brick wall. I would stay here again if they paid me! Go stay somewhere else in Cheyenne where you will get what you pay for !…

Big confusion here between historic, charming and just outright crumby incompetent. Not quite sure how they can charge money for some of these rooms. Their one slow elevator doesn't work. Several of the rooms are so small, you have to leave them to change your mind. I'm traveling in a group of 25. One of the rooms: the shower/tub only dripped brown water. And the tub was covered with dead flies, nice. My room features an opaque window with chicken wire, oh yeah, there is a pigeon nest right outside the window. Was I just admitted to an asylum? Even their neon sign is screwed up. Unless this place undertakes a major renovation, pls don't waste your time.

Wanted to check this out, but it was closed (some sites were still listing). There were stories that it was haunted, which would have made it a cool place to visit, in addition to the historical side of it.

This beautifully restored hotel in downtown Cheyenne is close to restaurants, museums, coffee places and shops and is easy walking distance to the state Capitol. Service at the hotel was amazing even though we were there during a huge ComicCon convention. The staff was friendly, engaging and very accommodating. They were delighted to have us as guests. Great find!
