We had Mothers Day brunch the meals were all excellently prepared, the deserts were out of this world, the beverage options were excellent as well. Please don't miss this fine place. We were given a friendly tour of the rooms & suites, first class all the way.

Dear Jim, On behalf of Regan (Chef), Kodi (F&B Director), our "on-the-ball" wait staff and myself, I'd like to say thank you for the wonderful review! No better day, than Mother's Day, to show how much we all love what we are doing and what a pleasure it was to help celebrate the day. In fact, keep us in mind... More

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in! This is the best meal we have had in years! Yea right is what your thinking. I don't blame you. Del Norte Co where the heck is that? NO Where which is why this is so amazing. The town saved this hundred plus year old hotel and restored it. They... More

To say that staying in a 130 year old luxury hotel in Del Norte was a surprise is an understatement. Saved from the wrecking ball (literally) by local citizens, the hotel underwent years and years of restoration and it was beautifully accomplished. High-ceilinged rooms with period trim and colors and tasteful reproduction furniture. The hotel and rooms are spotless. Very... More

My husband and I and our two boys, ages 7 and 11 come to ski wolf creek every year. We usually stay in a private home but this year we stayed at the Windsor Hotel Del Norte. We cannot say enough to describe how happy we were there. Owners Urs and Hallie went out of their way to make sure... More

I was here on business and I was referred to this hotel. I am so glad that I tried it out. The owners are really friendly and make you feel at home. With all my travels I think this has been the best. It is worth coming back to.

I have stayed here three separate times since the grand reopening in May. I have stayed at numerous locations in the San Luis Valley over the years on business and pleasure and this is by far the best hotel/motel. It has been completely and tastefully remodeled and even includes the resident ghost, Maude, who we did not see, but then... More

I had to travel to Rio Grande County for a trial. I considered staying in Alamosa that has more hotels but I didn't want to be so far away from the courthouse. I expected the worst in Del Norte but find the BEST! This hotel is worth a visit to Del Norte just for some R&R and to get a... More

We recently stayed at The Windsor Hotel while attending an event on a nearby ranch. The room was lovely and there are no complaints with that. The restaurant service is another story. We ordered room service and had to wait an hour for it to be delivered - the reason given was that the dining room was busy; this was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Built in 1874, and one of Colorado's oldest hotels, the Windsor has been the heart of the town of Del Norte for nearly 140 years. Originally known as "The Whitsitt House", this “Grand Dame’s” construction started soon after the town was founded in 1871. In the last quarter of the 1800's, Del Norte was a booming and thriving mining and ranching hub. Once on the short list for the capital of Colorado, Del Norte lost by one vote to Denver as state capital. The Windsor Hotel was the focal point of social and commercial activity in San Luis Valley area and remained a regional gathering spot for over a hundred years. Del Norte, remained a prospering and influential town in south western Colorado until the early 1970's. The Windsor Hotel too, began to reflect the area’s decline. By 1993, the hotel was dilapidated and in a state of ruination. A wrecking ball was literally looming over the decaying and lifeless “Victorian Lady” as she awaited her final fate. With amazing foresight and dedication, a local benefactor and his wife, Doctor Raymond & Mrs. Barbra Culp, stepped in to save the Windsor from demolition, literally at the last minute (the hotel lounge, Bistro Barbara, is named after Mrs. Culp in her honor). Over the past 20 years, several phases of reconstruction, restoration and regeneration have produceded an eloquent lodging and dining establishment. Highlights are a "turn-of-the-century" parlor, elegant dining and event rooms, and a living history interpretive area. ... more   less
