This place is the bee's knees of Hostels. The owner Candace is overly accommodating, the hostel is incredibly clean and spacious, and the location is very hard to beat. Thanks again for accommodating our very large group! More

18 of my closest ski buddies rolled through Durango and stayed at the Durango Hometown Hostel. I have been on too many ski trips to count, but never have I been more happy with the accommodations as I have here. The kitchen, beds, showers, common area were all clean and very well taken care of. Candace takes great pride in... More

We stayed here for new years eve night 2011, which was great for 1) access to the charming downtown festivities and 2) easy access to Purgatory. The hostel is very environmentally conscientious in its construction and heat conservation so it makes one happy to stay there. The kitchen is great for cooking and storing your food with yummy coffee in... More

Best hotel, sorry hostel I've ever stayed at. Ever. In fact it was so good I ended up staying two nights rather than one. Candace couldn't be more inviting and to be honest she's left a lasting impression on me with her charm, warmth and positive view on life. I walked across America and my stay in Durango (fantastic place... More

This was my first experience staying in a hostel and probably I have been spoiled for the rest of my hostel career, in fact it was nicer than most hotels that I have stayed in. Candace makes sure things go smoothly from coffee and cream every morning to changing the sheets if you stay more than a couple of days,... More

As hostels go this place is tops. It is very clean and well kept. The proprietor, Candice, is very friendly and helpful. The location is great. The building is fairly new. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a deck out back and a grill out front. This is definitely the nicest hostel I’ve stayed in. More

While in town for a family wedding, our large family took over 24 of the 26 beds in this spotless, cozy hostel - we had a fantastic time! Candace was very helpful, warm and inviting. Plenty of dishes, cookware, and space for all - so nice to have sheets and towels provided. Highly recommend! More

This small hostel is more like a B&B than any other hostel I've stayed at. I will just clarify that breakfast isn't provided, but you can make yourself a nice morning coffee. The place feels like home and has such beautiful touches with nice linen, blankets and towels (there are even facewashers provided in the unisex bathroom). The kitchen is... More

You're going to feel stupid for paying 2x or 100x more for a hotel in Durango, which is easy to do, and as I had previously. As hostels go, this one is tops. Welcoming, seriously clean & pristine, very homey, nice kitchen, comfortable lounge area, quiet location. Candace, the manager is friendly, helpful but not overbearing. Only slight downsides: off... For lack of a better description, the Durango Hometown Hostel is quite literally a home away from home. The owner/manager, Candace runs a tight, friendly ship just a few minutes from the heart of Durango. After a long day of driving, you cannot believe how excited I was to walk into what was literally the cleanest hostel I've ever had... More
