I was referred here by manager at greyhound bus terminal. It was the most awful hotel I have ever seen. The room even smelled like urine. I did not stay. I gagged as I ran away as fast as I could. This place was breaking every health code in the book. Nasty nasty nasty!!! More

Totally agree with the last 5 reviewers, it's just awful! We were looking for something inexpensive downtown as all hostels were full. The lobby was spooky, the elevator man (it's an old manual elevator there) looked stranged but we had no choice at that moment so we took the keys. Corridors dark and gloomy. The strong smell of tobacco in... More

I was in Chicago w/ no hotel reservations the weekend of Pitchfork, so every hostel was booked. My boyfriend and I came across this historic/run down hotel that didn't look too bad, and it was only 35/night. DO NOT let the lobby fool you. Back in the 30s, it was beautiful, with marble floors and high ceilings. The man at... More

We stayed in the New Jackson Hotel back in 2001. We were traveling with 4 friends and we needed a place to sleep when we arived in Chicago. The New Jackon Hotel was close to the centre and cheap...! We were amazed by the hotel, it looked like it used to be nice back in the 1930's! The elevator, walls,... More

I lived in a building a few doors down and got to enjoy it's inhabitants every time I walked by to the train . Do not stay here. Tourists beware of it's cheap price. On the map it looks like it's in a good location. But it's a literal hell hole in a otherwise decent neighborhood. This place should be... More

The person who wrote the first comment was dead on. We went there and the desk clerk walked us to a room. We turned on the lights and roaches went everywhere. There was a huge fur ball on the bed. The bathtub had been ripped out and was gone. There was crack or something all over the floor. The desk... More

Let me start by saying that I've never stayed in this hotel. Nor would I, nor would anyone I know. But I feel the need to warn out-of-towners about this place... and steer clear. It seems to serve as a halfway house for several registered sex offenders, three at the moment. It would seem to be in a nice area,... More
