Our Son and his family were staying in the Peninsular for the NATO summit and this hotel is also on the Miracle Mile, just a block away from them - but for 1/4 of the price of their room!
We also noted that the carpets were a little grubby, but the room was large and the view of the fire-escape...

The hotel is nice but nothing fancy. Location is fantastic for shopping, dining and all the best of Chicago. Be sure to check out the Shanghai Terrace rooftop restaurant across the street (at the Penninsula)

Maybe I should start by giving some perspective to the 5 stars I’m giving this hotel. I’m a budget traveler and my stay at the Allerton was surrounded by nights in the Jane, New York City, where rooms are literally no bigger than a train sleeping bunk.
I won the Allerton on Hotwire, only about 15$ more than what I...

Stayed at the Allerton for three nights. It's well located, fairly priced, but it seems like a place where no one who runs it ever bothers to stay there, so many weird little things are off. Booked an executive king suite as a splurge; first night we enter into a tiny room that has a couch and a big TV,...

Stayed at the Allerton for 1 night and thank goodness that is all. Went with a friend to Chicago and rented the room through hotwire. We had to upgrade to a double bed room and the cost was another $25, and even after that the room was very small. One could hardly walk between bed and wall to get to...

I stayed at the Allerton 4 nights in July 2011. The location is great, right on the Magnificient Mile. I was able to walk to great wine bars, restaurants and shopping. The best was that I was within 10 minutes by foot of the Lake and beach, which was very pleasant. Also went to the Navy Pier and Millenium Park....

We had a great stay at the Allerton and didn't experience any of the issues other reviewers have mentioned. The room was nice and big enough (likely because we got upgraded from a queen to a king room), the location was perfect, and hotel staff were fine. It would have been great to have a coffee maker in the room,...

I should have known when I pulled up to the Allerton and no one greeted us that this would turn out bad. I waited 10 minutes for someone to valet the car. No bellhop service, so we hauled everything up ourselves.
The front desk staff was friendly.
Walking off the elevator on the 20th floor, the carpet was worn and...
