I selected the DeSoto House Hotel because after visiting Galena many times I wanted to experience this historical location. It was perfect...the room, the service, the atmosphere and the price. It is the perfect location and they offer a covered parking facility connected to the hotel.

This hotel was okay. The carpeting in the hotel was a little worn and there weren't any frills. No fridge in rooms, no microwave. Just a coffeemaker. My wife and I stayed at the DeSoto House Hotel recently and had a wonderful time. The location is great, with numerous shops nearby. Great restaurants in the hotel and also within walking distance. Reasonably priced. One advantage is you can leave your car in the hotel parking garage and then wander the streets exploring the stores and historical sites.

We just had a marvelous stay at the DeSoto House!! The staff is great and the rooms were comfortable, clean and modern, yet historic. We took advantage of the Internet special for $129 per night with a $50 per night per room meal certificate for dinner. The food was delicious! We will definitely return!
