My wife and I visited the coast of Maine again this year for our anniversary and stayed at the 'Smugg' If you are looking for a classic New England waterfront motel, then this is the place. Great views, fantastic service and a good value.

For reference, we stayed right as the tourism season was over. My boyfriend and I stayed at Smugglers Cove Inn recently September 19th and 20th and had a fabulous experience! I found out about Smugglers Cove Inn through a Groupon offer and was impressed by their website and the staff that answered questions I had before purchasing the Groupon. We... More

I read the reviews just before we went & I must admit I was a little concerned. But we had purchased a Groupon for this motel so no matter what it had to be a great deal. We were very pleasantly surprised & in general I feel some of the very negative reviews to date are just a little harsh... More

The Views are great BUT the room was dirty, capets had stains. There were old partially filled water bottles from previous rentals under the beds. It appeared that the areas under the beds had not been vacumned for a long time. The towles were thin and worthless. The hot watwer was insufficient. If several rooms were using hot water, there... We stayed at Smugglers Cove for 2 nights in September with our dog Maggie. So we stayed in the Oars building (dog friendly). When we first walked in it was for sure a little outdated, but it was clean and the view from our deck Room 43 was amazing!! The only complaint I have is they should put dividers between... More

A gem snuggled on the cove. Beautiful views from each room. Tide actually flows under one building. Some rehabbing has gone on. The cleaning of bathroom sinks would give more sparkle to the room. Plenty spacious - can be noisy if neighbors are uncooperative.

I stayed here 7 years ago with my family and dog. We had a nice time. I stayed at this hotel again this past August. Yes, the view looking out to the water is beautiful but you can't let your hotel go down in updating. We stayed in a latern room this time (no dog with us) - we were... More

Great views right on the water. Rooms have a nice balcony to have a drink and relax while watching the sunset. Bathroom has been renovated and everything looks in great shape. Towels and sheets were always clean. I stayed here with my wife, 2 boys (2 1/2, 16mos), and our 3 1/2 old nephew in a 2 queen bedroom stay.... More

The view and location of this place is great. The area of Boothbay is lovely and we'd definitely go back, but we would not stay here again. (A note that Boothbay is surprisingly dog friendly which was nice even though we didn't bring ours!) We did have a Groupon so the rates were reasonable, but this place needs a serious... More

We got a Groupon, how can people complain about such a deal?? This quaint hotel is located right on the water, very soothing. You can swim in the pool and look out over the harbor. It is close to Boothbay Harbor, where we dined one night, purused shops and took a boat cruise the next day. It is also near... More
