I stayed at the MMI while bringing a giant traveling map to local schools. The room is comfortable, with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and free WiFi! It is very affordable and a short walk to Helen's restaurant, the place to get pie in Machias.

This is the only room I've stayed at EVER that had a coffee maker but no coffee. It isn't a great idea to stay in Rm 30-you get a view of the trash bin and 2 liquid gas tanks! Nice warm shower though.

When my aunt passed away suddenly,we needed a place to stay near Cutler. On short notice they were able to get us a 2 br apartment for my mother and brother and I. The place was huge,with a nice view. We liked being able to walk to dinner at Helen's Restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

My sister and I stayed here for 5 days while visiting my son and daughter in law. We stayed on the first floor for easy in and out with luggage.The room was promptly cleaned every morning. We rented the apartment, it was meticulous and the view from the porch of the river was charming we watched eagles, ospreys, comerants and seals fish - it was the most exciting thing in Machias. Very clean and kind service. Our kids enjoyed the pool at the university. Great location for finishing the Maine Island Trail.
