The Imperial Hotel has a great in-town location close to shops, restaurants, historic buildings and the Chester River. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The restaurant and public spaces are spotless but seem dated and worn. The place needs a renovation and update....maybe a restoration would be more appropriate so as not to lose the patina of the 1900's-30's. Whatever... More

The good: comfortable bed. Killer location. Good idea to give a $6 credit for breakfast (the cost of a continental breakfast) that can be applied to any menu item. Breakfast was excellent. Sausage appeared to be made by hand (and was good). The greens served with the quiche were absolutely delicious. Coffee was good. Saw the dinner being served the... More

Staff great and helpful, dinner delightful, but room itself, way overpriced/ Although room had some things would expect for rate paid, expected to have much more, bath something out of 50s and room lighting bad, Nice little hotel, in good location, but not worth the dollars. More

I am from the Philadelphia area and heard that Tom Pizzica from the Food Network's Outrageous Food had worked in Chestertown Maryland at a small restaurant so I took the day trip down. I am a huge Pizzica fan and thought that it was really cool that they had articles about him openning up this restaurant. I think it is... More

We stayed overnight here with friends and were pleased enough with the place we would return but not sure we would recommend it particularly to others. The place is a bit shabby and the bed a little too soft but the location cannot be beaten. We just had breakfast in the restaurant of the hotel and it was good. More

On a college tour visit, we stayed here with our teenage daughter in a one-bedroom suite which had a wonderful large second floor porch overlooking the quaint street. There is a small kitchen and I loved the fact that the coffee in the room was not little packets, but real scoopable coffee. Get some cream from downstairs and you are... More

After checking in in the afternoon, really late at night we got back in the room and found some small cockroaches in the bathroom. They were hiding behind the toilet/wallpaper and a small hole in the floor. One made his way to the tub. The front desk is empty at night, so we slept and waited till the next morning... More

Wanting to get away for a few days, we decided to stay at the Imperial Hotel based on reviews and web site. Was very surprised, we were greeted by Joe (Manager of Residents) whom is very nice and accomadating, and were able to check in before check in, however seeing the room with a hole in the king size bedspread... Chestertown is a sleepy little colonial town and the Imperial Hotel is the best way to enjoy that quaint old town feel. The amenities are quite basic but comfortable. Could this be fantastically restored? Sure but it would price itself out of business. Enjoy the hotel as it's been for years so if you can lower your expectations and appreciate... More

We stayed in the cottage suite in back of the hotel and it was adorable. Very cozy, clean, and comfortable. The Inn is showing its age. The food was okay, but not quite as good as we were expecting. However, if you're looking for an overnight getaway to a very tiny, quiet town less than 2 hours from DC, this... More
