This past weekend I went for a Gals Weekend at the Lakeside Inn! What a wonderful, warm, cozy, old-timey spot! The beds were comfortable….the location was wonderful (It was close to Soe's in Sawyer (dinner) and Luisa's in Harbert (lunch) It was up on a bluff overlooking the gorgeous Lake Michigan! The common spaces were perfect for reading and visiting... More

I love going to Lakeside in the winter. They have a 2 nights for the price of one special, they have huge beautiful fireplaces on the main floor with rocking chairs or couches to sit and read by the fire. There are good places to eat nearby, and the lake can be viewed out the windows or from the front... More

Spent 2 nights (Feb. 8 & 9, 2013) at the Lakeside Inn with some old friends and were very happy with our choice. The inn is very rustic; wood floors, steam heat radiators, no TV's, but we found that appealing. There are two fireplaces on the main floor, one in the lobby area and one in a bigger gathering room.... More

Beautiful building, very friendly staff. Stayed twice within the last month and definitely going back. If you're not used to historic buildings, don't bother. But if you are, this is the place for you.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Lakeside Inn two times, once in July 2011 for 2 nights and once again this summer in June 2012. My husband and I stayed two nights each time. It is dog friendly (we have a 12 lb dog) and it is only and hour and a half drive from Chicago. PROS:The... More

Definitely not a fan of the Lakeside Inn. My fiance and I were very disappointed. We paid extra for a "lake view" room and alas...no lakeview. Even in the winter the view would be obstructed by the tall pine trees. I did not feel like the staff was friendly or accommodating. Every time I walked downstairs, I felt judged and... More

We stumbled upon this place after making a last minute decision to spend the night on our way back from Chicago. This was definitely one of those times when being spontaneous really paid off! The inn is a real find. Tucked away off the Red Arrow Highway it is a step back in time. More than just an inn it... More

We stayed 2 nights, had reservations for 3. I was not asked why we were leaving early. Our room was very small and we were disappointed in the overall appearance. Definitely did not want the comforter on the bed. The room could really use a real cleaning, dusting, cobwebs. We did eat breakfast one morning in the Inn and I... More

We really enjoyed the gracious and historic feel to this inn, which has been on the Register of National Historic Places as of 2009. The very spacious lobby is filled with craftsman-style furniture and art - so pretty. Our room (#26) was very comfortable, quiet, and we liked having a refrigerator for drinks and snacks. Breakfast in the dining area... More

WHAT THEY DON’T TELL YOU…. My husband and I stayed at the Lakeside Inn for two nights. It’s a quaint, 1920s-era building that has lots of charm. The rooms are kind of small, but very clean. The furniture was rather shabby but serviceable. The housekeepers are friendly and courteous. Most of the front desk staff was very helpful and forthcoming... More
