We stayed at Ongava Lodge in March 2012 and while we enjoyed our stay, this lodge could be so much more. The initial feeling was that the lodge is tired and in need of a refurb. Also, there was very little in terms of ambience at the lodge - a luke warm, almost empty feel. The rooms are spacious and... More

Ongava proved to be the best game location with a wide variety of animals and an extensive area for off road game drives.guides were knowledgable and enthusiastic. lodges were large and comfortable and peaceful, bordering on basic with spectacular views. Food wasn't going to win any awards but was still OK. Staff all very helpful. Having read further about the... More

My wife and I spent 3 days at Ongava. Facilities and food are outstanding. The staff were the most enthusiastic, helpful and well trained we have ever encountered. The Wilderness Safari Company, which owns the lodge is to be admired. A significant fraction of their budget supports conservation, education and community development. Staff reported how the company facilitated their developing... More

We stayed in Andersson Camp, one of 4 sites in this well spaced private reserve. The “tents blended basic and luxurious giving a balcony view straight out to the animals. The people running the camp were knowledgeable and very friendly, the staff hugely attentive and the food (especially the “treats” with afternoon tea) delicious. The view from the outdoor lounge... Was at Ongava for two nights recently with my family, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting is magnificent, and the rooms extremely comfortable. We all loved the choice of showering inside or outside! The view from the terrace, where you take meals, is beautiful. I found the staff very friendly and our guide was knowledgable. In the Ongava reserve, which... More

This is a good lodge, in excellent position over (an albeit man-made) waterhole with spacious chalets. But it's not the excellent game lodge it could be. Road access is poor but the first impression delights....what it really lacks is any ambiance whatsoever. You won't get the luxury 'feel' you'll experience in similarly priced spots. Food is ok but not memorable... More

What a wonderful and priveleged way to visit a very popular National Park (Etosha) in Namibia. Ongava is a private concession which borders the southern borders of Etosha. It is managed by the highly respected Wilderness Safaris and harbors three very different accommodation choices. I stayed at the main Ongava Game Lodge (but I visited all three). The lodge was... Views are amazing, wildlife was wonderful to watch and the guides make the trip very memorable in a positive way. However, the food is in great need of improvement to include choices and time constraints. The rooms are in need of improvements and many areas could be far cleaner with a little attention to detail. Don't get me wrong, it... More

The location of this lodge is stunning and the wildlife watching is superb (greatly enhanced by the extremely helpful and knowledgeable guides). Those are the high points - and they are not to be underestimated. But this lodge could be more. The rooms are huge, but decorated much less lovingly than those of other lodges - there is no attention... More

My brother and I stayed here for four nights and had an absolutely wonderful time! The service is first-rate and the staff -- from our guide to the waiters, chefs, and manager -- were uniformly all so wonderful and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. They bake fresh bread every day and the veggies, meats, and soups were all simply... More
