“Pleasant hotel in a charming village”

We booked this hotel as a convenient place to stay after a late evening arrival at Le Havre. The hotel is located on the square of a pretty village, and we were given a pleasant welcome by a receptionist who spoke far better English than our poor French. We have been guests here three or four times in recent years, and it makes a delightful stopover. The building looks like something from a picture postcard. It probably is! We stayed in this supposedly charming inn near Honfleur in August 2005. It featues in the Michelin Charming Hotels and Alistair Sawday's Special Places to Stay and in a number of French guides but it seems that one man's "charming" is another man's "basic".
