4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2013 NEW

It is an old charming hotel in Saugatuck and location could not be better. We purchased a Groupon deal and expected to get the worst room, but it was not that bad. The room was tiny, but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful; breakfast also was good.

My experience was dramatically different from other reviewers. I found this hotel to be a good value for the money. I stayed in Room 212, which was spacious and comfortable. The mattress on the bed--a plush pillowtop--was obviously new. The rooms are cheerful and comfortable and the beds are wonderful. The staff is friendly and concerned. The front desk is... More

We were warned by other reviews that the owner was rude. I'm glad we knew ahead of time. We were greeted by her. We asked what time check in was and she said "Three o'clock. Not before." When we returned after 3:00 the front door was locked. People were gathering outside wondering why the place was closed. Someone called and... More

We purchased a half off coupon and judging from the website, we thought we were in for a luxurious treat. Yes, the hotel is charming and beautiful with a great location, BUT, it entirely lacks personnel and service to back it up. There is no personal warmth from employees. It appears to be managed for the convenience of the staff... More

We just returned from a weekend here and not sure if we will return. We have stayed at numerous B&B's and this one by far was the worse. First the good then the BAD: Location Location Location (great) , 2 to 4 block walk to everything, parking no problem (Well that was the good) Bad: we had a Deluxe Room... More

We stayed here this past weekend. There were positives and negatives and they were pretty even so that's why I rated this place as Average. First the positives. The location is wonderful. You are within walking distance to everything, yet far enough way to be able to get street parking right by the hotel. The overall atmosphere of the property... More

The B&B was okay with small room but the breakfast was awful. One day plain pancakes that were like hockey pucks. Next day scrambled eggs with feta cheese and spinach that tasted like oatmeal. No flavor at all. Had a smoothie each day which was good but served in a glass the size of a shot glass. Could you spring... More

The hotel was beautiful. The scenery and the setting was something out of a movie. It was very intimate and quiet. Kids were in the hotel also and it was no problem with the noise levels at all. The local cuisine was great (try Phils bar and grill in walking distance). I would recommend this place to everyone who truly... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at the wonderful B&B for two nights this week. The room was charming and beautiful. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The entire place is impeccably clean. Breakfasts were delicious. From the time we checked in to the time we checked out everything was first rate. This was our first trip to Saugatuck. We... More

We are both 63 years old. We rated this "hotel" a 5 (excellent). In the past we've stayed at Hidden Garden Cottages & Suites, and Twin Oaks Inn. Both of those are rated a 5 by other reviewers. We liked the Maplewood Hotel as much as those. My wife mentioned she liked Maplewood more than Twin Oaks. We stayed in... More
