Remember this is Covid time, the lodge really opened up just on June 1st. We were there June 2nd to 5th. Let's start with the good news. The fishing with Mike the guide was great for the two days we had with him. A lot of walleyes and even more sauger. The room was decent, we had to be careful with the sun heating things up, the shades worked. It was near 90 earch day, we had the typical room AC running continuously. Nice big fridge with a good freezer. We ate dinners at the lodge on the ala carte meal plan (8 meals for $144). they have a great walleye dinner option, normally $30 but it is included with the meal plan. We had to eat outside or box it due to the virus. They had everything marked off for social distancing outside. The bad, it came in a lot pricier than we were expecting, a lot due to the virus. Since we were a couple, the charter could not take more than us 2, so we had to pay $784 per day for the boat. On the two days we could afford, the weather was near ideal, low wind, sunny, great fishing. On the other two days, we had our 20 foot Ranger and the wind came up--bad combination. We did manage to fish outside the sand 'break wall' the first day and caught one decent walleye which we ate at the cabin. On the 2nd day, my wife would not fish due to the waves from day 1, I fished inside the sand break. I caught 4 species! Walleye, sauger, 1 perch and 1 northern, but all were too small to keep. The wind was worse than the first day. We decided to check out a day early, I fished only 1/2 a day on the 4th day. Then the $ reckoning came. There system preferred the package plan which we did not take. The result was about $130 more than we expected and that was after a $300 reduction. We paid it, as I said this year was different due to the virus. One last item, forget about Wifi except at the lodge. It is free there. Overall would we stay again, yes but at a cheaper rate and never bring our boat.…
