Portsmouth was always my favorite city in New England, so cute but lots of things to do. I wanted to share it with my husband. We stayed here for a long weekend. The support staff were friendly and helpful. On the last day we met the owner; she had been on vacation herself. Our conversation started out friendly enough but... More

To whomever I managed to offend by expressing my opinions, I sincerely apologize. I never meant to ruin anyone's vacation or make them feel that I did not respect their views or values. I do not recall what I may have said about the Naval Shipyard that would have been "offensive" so I can not do anything more than apologize... More

This was our first visit to Portsmouth. The room (dashing wave) was just lovely - clean, comfortable and inviting. Margot was exceptionally helpful with directions and suggestions. Breakfast was delicious on both days and the seating in the dining room really facilitated nice discussions among the guests. The inn is a nice walk to the downtown area so do walk... More

We visited Portsmouth for the first time and stayed overnight at the Martin Hill Inn. Margot was very accommodating and when we arrived she provided all the great spots to see and experience in the Portsmouth area. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and our room was very comfortable as well. We would highly recommend anyone traveling to the... More

We stayed here in November of 2012. I must say, it is a cute little B&B, however, the pictures on-line do not portray what the Inn really is. It's a bit run down, especially on the outside. I will say it is clean and the host was nice. I will say that the walls are VERY thin -- you can... More

I appreciate hearing how the Inn appears to other people. Sometimes it is easy to get used to how your place (house, car, etc) looks and forget how it appears to other people. Happily with the wonderful weather we have had this week, my crew and I have given the outside walls of the Inn a fresh coat of paint... More

We stayed at the Martin Hill Inn for five days during a recent trip to New England. The Inn was clean and well maintained. Margo was lovely and went out of her way to make sure that we had ideas for places to go during our stay. The Martin Hill Inn staff are also very good with making sure their... More

Very glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Inn. Five days allows extra time to see some of the lesser known nooks and crannies of the seacoast area. For anyone concerned about the light traffic noise from being in the city, we can also recommend Sea Witch and Noonday as rooms off the main street. More

We enjoyed a weekend in Portsmouth and we found the Martin Hill Inn to be a great home base. Our room, the Sea Witch, was in the guest house and it was clean and cozy, and featured a sitting area with a comfortable love seat and tv. The room was quiet for a good night's sleep. (Side note: this room... More

We try to take long weekends to unwind ; and more often than not find ourselves in the very pedestrian friendly town of Portsmouth New Hampshire. On this particular trip we booked at the MARTIN HILL B&B.. After a long drive we felt like we had arrived at someones well loved home. The off -street parking led us to a... More

Thank you for sharing you experience at the Inn with us. We are glad that the welcoming and homey, but not intrusive, atmosphere we strive for comes through. We hope to set the tone, but really it is our wonderful guests that make the breakfast table such a fun place to be in the morning. Thank you to you all. More

We had a lovely stay at the inn this weekend. The room was comfy and on a quiet side street. Breakfast was a highlight with home-cooked food and the company of other guests. We enjoyed tea and cake in the afternoon and hot chocolate in the evening. There was a lovely garden and off-street parking. Margot went out of her... More

We travel with friends every year for an impromptu getaway. This year we headed to Portsmouth and hit on the Martin Hill Inn. Located within easy walking distance to the downtown restaurants we found this inn to be everything we needed. We had the king room with the porch so we were able to gather there each night with our... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Martin Hill Inn. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good. I loved the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. Also loved the chocolate chip cookies! The innkeeper was very helpful in giving us information on things to see in the area.
