We found the Black Bear Lodge very good. There were 5 of us, 4 adults and 1 teen. We opted for the Deluxe Suite (accommodates 6) and we were very comfortable. This was the best deal by far. The facility is starting to show its age a bit but still on good shape. The queen bed was fine and the... More

My husband and i spent the weekend in Waterville at the Black Bear Lodge. My husband spent the days snowboarding with friends at the mountain which left my me and my girlfriend to entertain ourselves. It was not hard to do as the comfy rocking chair in front of the roaring fire became our favorite spot. The staff were all... More

Good location - very old and not updated rooms. We were up for hockey tournament and was not impressed with our room. Pink, laminated countertops, 25 year old bead spreads, 15 year old TV's, etc. nothing has been updated! Not a very good value.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am incredibly sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations. Unfortunately we still have a few rooms that have yet to be updated. I believe each unit is individually owned, so each one is decorated and maintained separately. Overall, it feels a little dated (not a modern hotel in looks and style) but it appears to be well-maintained (rugs, walls and facility all in very good condition). We stayed in the deluxe suite (the bottom tier) and it was huge. Full kitchen, separate... More

We stayed 1 night over February vacation and were extremely pleased. We pulled up early prior to the 4 pm check in but were accepted and allowed to check in since our room was available. The front desk staff were exteremely friendly and helpfull. The room we stayed in on the 4th floor was great. The owner of this unit... More

Spent three nights here and felt it was a good value for the money. Nothing new, fancy or upscale about it, but we were comfortable and our room was quite clean. Kitchen had pretty much all the amenities we needed for making breakfast and evening snacks. Furnishings are pretty dated, including the TVs, but perfectly functional. I will say that... More

Being able to park and play while in Waterville Valley is one of the best reasons to vacation here. The Black Bear Lodge is so close to the pedestrian village that it really helps guests make the most of their vacation, especially for families. I am so sorry that the furniture in your unit wasn't comfortable. We are still in... More

We stayed a few nights over Feb. vacation. The kids had a blast! The indoor-outdoor pool was nice. Kids went to watch movies each night in the kids theater (which I think was just a big screen tv but good enough!) they also liked the game room. We used the skating rink across the street and big pool at the... More

A disconnect between quality and price is apparent in many ways at the resort, and lodging is no exception. The Black Bear Inn may be ranked #1 in the valley here on Tripadvisor, but our room was filthy when we arrived and I had to do some cleaning on my own before we could settle in. Some of the dishes... Everything you need for weekend hockey tourney stay. Pool was cool. Two floor condo on the fifth floor is perfect for knee hockey upstairs, parents downstairs. Tvs could be updated. Haven't seen a Murphy bed since the 3 stooges but worked out great.

I'm glad to hear that we could meet all your needs. Thank you for your feedback regarding the TVs. We are in the process of continued upgrades and TVs are at the top of the list.
