Wanted to post a review because I almost didnt stay here due to the reviews from others. The Hotel has the perfect location, you can walk to EVERYTHING. The view was AMAZING, enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on our balcony and watching the waves crash, you even can hear the ocean while you are falling asleep very relaxing. The place... More

Great Location across from the beach & with nice balconies & rockers. The hotel lobby is kind of cool in that it's old-fashioned & calming. Serviceable room on second floor ("Victorian" with 2 double beds that are ok, but not great). Love the new wicker-styled furniture, but the bed sheets seemed old. Bathroom is small but has nice shampoos &... More

We encourage our customers to let us know if there is anything we can do during their stay to make each night more comfortable and can usually correct any issues a guest may find unsuitable. Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to help you during this visit. We hope you will give us another opportunity to make a better... More

The hotel is in a perfect location - park your car and forget about driving. Right across from your balcony is the beautiful beach and ocean. Walk to tons of restaurants and shopping. We had a suite - a small suite with a bedroom, living room and small efficiency kitchen. It would be tight for a week with family. Upon... More

We do acknowledge that this Expedia reservation was not in our system. To avoid a double booking every attempt was made to ensure it wasn't under a different listing. We regret that this oversight had occurred and the customer was upgraded from a standard room to a suite on a higher floor at no additional charge. More

The room was mostly clean. The first day we noticed that the floor really had not been vacuumed.Day 2 it was cleaned. The bathroom was clean. The bath products were good. Only 1 cofee filter a day is kind of chintzy. Even though we reserved a room for 3 we only got 2 Bath towels. The Guide to Cape May... More

Your first instinct to speak to someone about the issues you described was a correct one. A manager is always available to hear your concerns. Our objective is to get it right the first time, but if something isn't up to our guests' expectations we do try to make it right. We hope to prove that to you on your... More

We stayed the last weekend in March 2012 its not busy. Lot of shops and restaurants aren't open year round. The hotel restaurant had good chicken fingers and shrimp basket we ate outside our room in our rockers. The hotel is nicely located right across the beach. Havibg our princess doggy with us limited us on dining out. We ordered... More

Thank you for your comments. We are happy to know that maintenance was able to provide you with quick service. Unfortunately, due to water conservation requirements in Cape May the performance of our bathroom fixtures may not always be satisfactory to our guests. We are always on the look-out for new technology in this regard to make the experience more... More

We stayed at the Marquis last summer for the 4th time in a row (and the last). We had always liked the place and had previously very good experiences with it. We stayed in one of the top floor suites, but the floor was in disrepair (Pergo-laminate type flooring that had a corner of it sticking up in a trip-hazard,... More

We remember this situation quite vividly. The wood floor had buckled creating an unsafe situation and trip hazard in the penthouse suite. Although the customer requested to stay in the room we had to insist that, for the safety of the occupants, they be moved to another unit. The high occupancy of the hotel at the time did not allow... We made a off season visit to one of our favorite shore places,Cape May but since it was really off season our usual hotels were not open so we decided to visit the.Lafayette. In reality it was a pleasant visit, and the accomodations did nothing to detract but little to add. The best point was the balcony and the view.... More

Thank you for your comments. The wireless system was recently installed throughout the hotel. Once more access point is being installed on the first floor to correct a weak signal in that area. We apologize for the inconvenience. We appreciate your candor and hope you will consider staying with us again. More

We usually stay in a bed and breakfast, but decided to give the new penthouse/cathedral suites at the Marquis a try. Under new management (local, and who actually give a darn) the central oceanfront location can't be beat. Don't be put off by the "published rate" for this hotel, you will get a minimum of 20% off, probably a lot... More

Thank you for recognizing that the reviews are not always an indication of what you can expect at the Marquis de Lafayette Hotel. The staff does a great job keeping up with the demands and challenges they are confronted with every day. Unfortunately, few of the majority of people with positive comments publish their opinions than the minority who published... More

When you're traveling you have to have a good sense of humor and go with the flow. We arrived about 3 PM. We weren't in our 4th floor room for more than 15 minutes when the fire alarm went off. Had to walk down 4 flights of stairs only to find it was a false alarm. (that was a good... More

That day WAS memorable ... even for the staff! Unfortunately, no matter how cold it may be we are required to evacuate the hotel when the alarms go off. Luckily it was a false alarm. For anyone who has not had the pleasure of being at the Jersey Shore during a Nor'easter, you don't know what your missing. Unfortunately, one... More

The Marquis off season is not a bad place to stay if you're limited to pet friendly accomodations. The first floor rooms face the ocean and have both a living room and bedroom. The price and pet fee were reasonable. The room was clean but damp and musty. I wasn't sure if it was a doggie smell or just moisture.... More
