We enjoyed our night in Swellendam, the manageress couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms were delightful in a rather old fashioned way that is entirely in keeping with the town. I believe the owner was selling so I don't know how it may have changed since.

We are in the unfortunate position that this place is now closed. The scores do not reflect the old quality. Just that TA won't let this notice appear without ratings.

We stayed at the Coachman Guest House from Nov 8th-Nov 9th. It was a terrific night and the one regret was not being able to stay longer and enjoy the beautiful grounds and house. Lana and her mother were very kind to us and let us upgrade to the cottage with stunning views of the backdrop. The breakfast was delicious... More

My wife and some family members stayed here in September 2011. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. The room sizes vary but ours was a nice size. The main building is a lovely old cape dutch style with very nice gardens and a beautiful view over the mountains. Breakfast was very nice and the hosts are extremely warm and... More

This lovely little guest house was a great find on our trip to South Africa. Lana and her mother, the chef who makes wonderful breakfasts with fresh bread, could not be better hosts. Lana had all sorts of good suggestions for restaurants and activities, and made us feel instantly at home. An example of her thoughtfulness is that she doesn't... More

I have now stayed at The Coachman twice since I discovered it only eight months ago…and I already have another visit planned for December! I was overwhelmed by the hospitality I received from the moment I arrived, and Lana and Maggie have somehow managed to create for their guests the perfect blend of “feeling at home” and “being treated like... The accomodation was splendid. We slept in small cottages in the back of the garden, which where well equipped and had a romantic fireplace. The garden with pool was a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the early evenings. The breakfast was very rich and also decoration of the plates and tables was well thought of. Our hostess Lana was... We arrived at the guest house without booking but needed somewhere to stay last minute. We're 2 adults, a 3 year old and a 6 month old baby. Firstly the grounds and buildings are superb, being well maintained and attractive, theres awesome views and a large enclosed garden with tress, bushes and grass for the kids to safely run about... Very friendly staff and all was relaxing. The breakfast was super. Just the tv was not working very good, but that can be an advantage.

The Coachman Guest House have a real old cape atmosphere and is easy to reach (two hours drive froma Cape Town). The cottage has a great wood roof and a romantic fireplace (in april in SA is winter season ...). Everything is comfortable and the breakfast (included in the rate) is very rich. High recommended.
