Desert and Delta maintains a high standard throughout their camps. Special about Savute was their excellent host couple Michelle and MC, their dedicated guides (thanks Baba!) and last but not least the superb lodge itself. Viewing game at night during dinner just meters away -- unforgettable. Seing the return of the resident Hippo after 30 years of Hippo absence ---... More

Savute is marvellous. I could just finish the review now, really. With the added line "Just go!" But Trip Advisor generally wants a little more than that. Savute Safari Lodge is one of the best experiences that Botswana offers. The reserve itself is superb, with lots of game, interesting old volcanic scenery, the now flowing channel, and the marshland. During... More

Waited 20 years for this trip. Planned it for two years. Stayed in three Desert and Delta safari camps on the excellent advice and planning of SAA Vacations. SAVUTE SAFARI LODGE surpassed all expectations in regard to 1) location (Chobe NP), 2) density of prey, 3) density of preditors (esp.leopards), 4) comfort, 5) amenities, 6) cuisine, 7) sunsets, 8) sunrises,... the last time I was in the Savute area, the Savute Channel was a dry river bed. Since 2008 due to tectonic movement, the river is flowing again and it flows right past Savute Safari Lodge. From a location point of view it just does not get any better. At any one time there could be upwards of twenty elephants... More

I wanted to see the channel flowing and see the changes this has made to the area. We stayed for four nights. The rooms very large and excellent. Not all look on to the channel which is a pity. The rate we paid through Desert and Delta was over $1000 per day so its on the very high end and... More

If you are interested in elephants, a small camp atmosphere and great guides, this will be a camp for you. Botswana takes a little more effort and money than South Africa. You must fly into Joburg and then connect with a flight to Maun. The next flight will be on a small plane which may be very warm and bumpy.... More

Couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer that if you're into elephants, this is the place for you! This was the second lodge/camp we visited on a recent trip through Botswana and Zambia. (Baines Camp by Sanctuary; Chobe Under Canvas by & Beyond; Tongabezi were the others). Management team and staff were super - really welcoming and professional. Excellent food... More

We just returned from a wonderful safari holiday at 3 Desert & Delta camps (Leroo La Tao, Camp Moremi and Savute Safari Lodge) and all were very different and equally amazing. Savute Safari Lodge was the most luxurious with very large chalets fronted entirely by glass and a huge viewing deck with chairs and small table. The bed was very... More
