My room had a terrible moldy smell, was ill maintained and needed a serious clean. The bed was more of a cot, and the room held seemingly random pieces of furniture. While the location was excellent, there are much better choices for the price.

Beware. We had room 30 at the Tally Ho. No one should ever stay there and it's ridiculous that the owners rent it out. It's so musty it's a hazard to your health. The Streeters have owned the Tally-Ho for several generations; its what Chautauqua is all about - friendly people, great food, fun place, in a great location. I've already booked my stay for next year.

We have been going to wonderful Chautauqua for many years and this the only bad experience we have had. The didn't have the type of room we reserved; were nasty about it; the employees are nice but the proprietor is like a warden -- not an innkeeper. This is definitely a place to stay if every other place is full.
