We stayed in Selous as part of our honeymoon. It was our first safari stop and we were not dissappointed. The accomodation is in rather rustic huts, but this really adds to the charm and authemticity of your safari stay. The communal bar/ restaurant are finished beautifully and overlook the wonderful river. On one night as were enjoying a sundowner,... More

This is a very good, well run camp, situated in a peaceful location on the banks of the Rufiji River just outside the Selous Game reserve. Despite being a budget option you can sense that the camp has been created with dedication and attention to detail – the furniture is made on site from natural materials, the meals are based... More

Selous River Camp is a nice, very well-run place. We just spent three nights there, camping in a tent provided by our safari company, but eating meals provided by the camp and using their guides for some trips. The camp is indeed right on the river and there is a fabulous bar / deck area for hanging out and watching... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Selous River Camp in September 2011. Great local produce food, friendly and helpful staff, close to the beautiful Selous Park and well organised game drives combined with excellent weather. The mudhuts and tents add a unique dimension to the safari experience. Strongly recommended to anyone who wants to see the Selous. More

It really is like joining an extended family , the staff are exceptional, so helpful , friendly and extremly knowledgeable. The Food is first class and our "tent" very comfortable , with an outside shower for added bonus. Views from all the tents and... More

Selous River Camp is one of several mid-range places to stay located right outside the border of the magnificent Selous Game Reserve. Everywhere inside the reserve itself is ridiculously expensive. I opted for Selous River Camp on the basis of good reviews and the appealing, well, riverside location, staying for three nights in November, i.e. the short rains, in a... More

We greatly enjoyed the Selous River Camp! We fell in love with the place...It is so unique to sleep in the wilderness! All the staff were sooo kind to us, always with a smile! The food (including desserts) was delicious! It is definetly an ideal place to chill and enjoy the wilderness, away from any sort of communications... We spend... More

Extremely comfortable mud huts overlooking the river. Not a huge amount of wild life but hippos , birds and monkeys abundant. An evening boat trip is a must for wildlife, scenery and sunset. The lodge is 10 minutes from the Selous and if not a self driver the camp will organise day trips. (However be aware entrance fee mounts up... More
