My partner drove me to the lodge having managed to keep the relaxing, weekend getaway a complete secret even as we drove down the meandering bush driveway and through the ford. It is jaw droppingly beautiful here and completely tranquil. My partner could not have planned a better location for me to unwind as a birthday and anniversary surprise. It... More

My husband and I had 8 wonderful days relaxing at this beautiful place. The hosts, Tam and Charles are very welcomig and have so much helpful information about the area. Wairua Lodge is within easy reach of all the beautiful beaches and walks nearby, but also only 12 minutes from the delightful town of Whitianga, with acess to the sea,... More

This is a very special place. Maximum of 6 rooms (4 king rooms en suite & river suite which has 1 king & queen with own kitchen/lounge). The setting is beautiful, luscious bush with rivers and streams, which Owners Tam & Charlie have made various nature walks through. Incredible sounds of nature can be heard. It has a shared kitchen/dining... More

Just got back from a long weekend staying in the Hidden Valley Lodge and I just had to write a review to say just how much I loved this little B&B! The hosts, Tam and Charlie were wonderfully friendly and so helpful, the location was great for visiting both Coromandel Town and Whitianga and there were some fun little walks... More

My wife looked at me and said "this is a honeymoon" while we were in the most romantic place of our honeymoon trip through northern NZ. We were getting a late start along the winding roads of the Coromandel peninsula, and arrived at Wairua Lodge (thanks to Frommers) after sunset. The road in looked like we were entering Jurassic Park,... More

We spent 3 nights at Wairua Lodge, in the King Snug, at the end of our 5 week adventure in New Zealand. The Coromandel Peninsula took us by surprise. We expected a busy resort style area to be what we saw and instead we found the opposite was true. We love places that are on the 'road less traveled' and... More

it was wonderful stay and a unique experience too, spending two nights in this unbelievable resort far away from noisy streets and crowded towns. The best stay we had for a long time and we would certainly and without any doubt love to come back here. Charles and Tam are wonderful hosts and we loved every minute. We even regretted... More

We stayed for 4 nights in the King Snug room, which was spacious and very comfortable, overlooking the gardens. We had a private patio, complete with a bbq. Tam and Charles were perfect hosts, giving us plenty of freedom, yet providing help and information when required. The bath house was a great experience, as close to nature as you could... More

Many of the reviews here cover the wonderful aspects of this magical place. The owners are delightful and helpful and still give you the space for privacy. A highlight for us was the two person bathtub tree house. It was so unique. We enjoy the sun going down and the owls coming out and within our vision. Bubble bath was... More

I have stayed here three times with friends and family and loved it everytime. It is tucked away in a remote area near Whitianga that serves perfectly for a relaxing getaway. The rooms are clean and simple but well appointed. Each has a bbq. Breakfast is delivered the night before abd each room has a toaster and kettle allowing you... More
