Arrived 10 May 2012 to this quiet, spacious garden location. We were immediately made welcome by Lyn who greated us on arrival. The accommodation was well appointed, clean with a great guest lounge. An acitivty that we participated in was the "Cathederal Cove Scenic Cruise". Our captian was Darryl who had great knowledge of the area, this is a worthwhile... More

When we first arrived I hated it, dropped the luggage & went out to find somewhere else. It was so dreadfully old fashioned, not at all what we had become used to on our 6 week tour of Australia & New Zealand. Next morning, with fresh eyes, I realised how wrong I had been. Yes, it is old fashioned, but... More

Can not beat the peaceful outlook, spotless rooms, all the facililites you need to a perfect stay, the hosts Lynette & Darryl could not be friendlier and really seem to love what they do, and the bonus is you can organise a tour or boat trip wit Darryl to see all the awesome sights and marine life of the Coromandel... On reflection, our stay at the Aotearea Lodge in Whtianga was one of the most enjoyable of our trip. It's an excellent base, partly due to its position just outside town, and partly by the attentiveness of the owners, Darryl and Lynette. The Lodge has around a dozen units available as self catering or bed and breakfast basis, and we... More

This was a great breakaway, Lodge was set in a beautiful quiet area, our room was nice and big with a great outlook, Aotearoa Lodge also offered the scenic cruise in which allowed us to experience another part of New Zealands beautiful coastline. Also included in our Ultimate Breakaway Package was the wine tasting at the local Mercury Bay Estate... More

Our room was basic, a bit small but fine and there was a spacious guest lounge to compensate. But this was fine for a couple of nights. (They do have bigger rooms which looked very nice but I imagine cost more!) Nice continental breakfast included. More

The room was comfortable, and the grounds delightful. Parking is a bit challenging as you must back out of the car park. A guest lounge and kitchen are an asset. More

The lodge staff were very welcoming. The room was clean and it was a quiet place to stay. I would certainly recommend it. It took us a little while to locate the lodge. In finding this place it is handy to know that racecourse road is not a straight road and appears to be a side street. More
