Needed a dog-friendly place to stay for a few days and this place was recommended by a friend who grew up in Beaufort. I don't often splurge on B&B's, but I am glad I did for this one. This is more like an inn (with private room entrances and bath), not a B&B. I LOVED the history of the place,... More

My husband and I stayed at the County Home B & B this week for the 4th time. We love it! My husband's parents, his sister and brother lived there in the early 1950's when it was an apartment house. It has been fun for us to share his family's experiences with the current owners, Mr. and Mrs. O'Pray. The... More

I had occasion to stay at the Carteret County Home Bed and Breakfast last week and came away with mixed feeling. It was already dark the evening we arrived and the same when we left the next morning, so we really didn’t see anything of the property except for the actual lodging units. I was impressed upon entering the room... More

We previously stayed at another highly recommended b&b in Beaufort before but thought we would try another place. The Carteret County Home was all that we could have wanted and so much more. For starters, we loved the historical aspect of the b&b and when we arrived, we were thrilled with the rural setting, the solitude, the neatness, etc -... More

Most disappointing is they advertise themselves as pet friendly. They "accept pets" is a more accurate description. This place is a little "mom and pop" establishment and they have 3 unfriendly dogs of their own they do not keep under control. My dog , an elderly beagle, was charged at twice, once by all 3 in pack fashion, my husband... More

My wife and I stayed here (along with our Golden Mix) during Christmas week this year and had a wonderful stay. The owners Nan and Terry were extremely welcoming and accomodating. Their three dogs, Raleigh, Opie and Jacko were very friendly and served as great playmates for our pup. The unit was well decorated and appointed, with small fridge and... More

Stayed there one night after a friends wedding. Loved the decorations and the "ambiance". The owners (and their critters) were so friendly and welcoming. They promised continental breakfast and inside the room was a small kitchenette. There was a coffee pot and a variety of drinks. At 8:30 am, a basket of warm bagels and donuts came to my door.... Booked a room last minute for a recent stay in this hidden gem. Boy was I glad that I did! Excellent little inn (10+ rooms all with private entrances), where you feel like you're staying somewhere personal but still have a good deal of privacy. Great value for the area even in prime season. Lots of history behind this little... More

We stayed for one night in Beaufort. Initially wanted to stay in the town/village - near the water - but there were a few large weddings in town and EVERYTHING was booked. We were referred to the Carteret County Home B&B and did not regret it for a moment. The room was spacious, private, immaculately clean, with beautiful original floors... More
