Stayed at one of these cabins only one night while travelling through Kootenay Park. Lovely right in the mountains, lots of good hiking trails nearby, but haven't had time to do hiking. Not far to the hot springs at Radium. The cabins are very rustic, nothing fancy, but cozy and the only accommodation for quite a few km's. The rates... More

After reading the worrisome reviews about the older heritage cabins we upgraded our reservation to the new Vermilion cabin #1. This cabin was outstanding! We stayed for nearly 2 weeks and wished we could live there forever. The 2 new Vermilion cabins are attached to each other but very quiet, we had various neighbours during our stay but never heard... There aren't many places to stay in this area, so we decided to try the Kootenay Park Lodge. Having read the reviews for the "heritage" cabins, we decided to go for the brand new and a bit more expensive new cabin. What a treat! This was an absolutely gorgeous cabin. Beautiful construction and furnishings. There is a partial kitchen with... More

We enjoyed staying in the cabins. They are definately older and cosy but the quirkiness and age of them adds to their appeal. There location is great - right in the heart of the National Park. Peaceful location. We had a nice stay. More

A good location but bad value for money... the bungalows are very basic and rustic... and would need some refurnishing - the bathroom is very small.. very expensive for what you get.. they seem to be taking advantage of the fact there are not many other alternatives in Kootenay.. avoid if you can... The sheets and towels were clean, and surprisingly the bed was comfortable. However, that didn't make up for the rest of the cabin. The kitchen floor was dirty - no 3 second rule here; and I have to question the sanity of wall to wall carpet in the bathroom. Every corner of the cabin had spider webs, which the owner... More

Our stay at Kootenay Park Lodge has to have been the worst place I have ever been. We had been driving for a day and a half and saw on a map that it had "Approved Accommodations" so we called and got a room because we didn't know how far it was till Banff. So we got there later at... More

After reading the other reviews, we were excited to get a cabin here, but our experience did not seem to equal that of other reviewers. I'd like to start by saying that the staff & owner were incredibly friendly & nice, so it is a little hard to write anything negative, but the cabin just did not measure up. I... More

While it doesn't really compare to our suite at the Fairmont Banff Springs this place is not to be overlooked. Our Cabin had a small wood burning fireplace and Kitchenette and was quite quaint. I am an outdoorsy person that has spent much time in the Interior of Alaska and traveled extensively throughout Southern Africa so I am used to... More

We stayed in a cabin with basic kitchen facilities (mini fridge, two-burner stove, toaster, coffee maker, utensils and dishes) for three nights as this was the only place where you can easily access hiking trails in Kootenay National Park. Check-in was fairly efficient and we were pleasantly surprised by the cabin. The cabin is quite old but has great character,... More
