There were not many choices in Port McNeill and we looked at one that was scary and one that was $30 more. This was the middle ground. Residual smoke smell in our rooms and the beds were pretty worn. I did some laundry and noticed that the dryer filters were broken. I worried a bit about a laundry room fire. More

We spent three nights at Haida Way in Port McNeill, room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced, it included full breakfasts. (The rug in the dining room needs replacing). We were quite satisfied with this accomodation. From there it was a short trip to Port Hardy, Malcolm Island and Telegraph Cove, all pictoresque sites... As another reviewer has pointed out, the photos do not represent the current reality. It is visually depressing, old furniture and so on. Feels a bit like you have arrived at the ends of the earth somewhere. Reminds me of a placee I stayed in in Rocky Mountain House a couple of years ago, which is similarly remotely located. However,... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as we explored the far north of the Island. Theres not much choice in Port McNeill and this seems the best of a bad bunch. Imagine walking into a 1970's prison block and thats this hotel, I have never seen so many concrete blocks that hadn't been skimmed over, are there no good plasterers on... More

I see other reviews are mixed about this place but we booked here after a Washington based ex-pat aircraft engineer we befriended recommended it - this well-travelled person claimed not the best but certainly not the worst and this is exactly what we found. The outside does give a bit of shabby image but inside was fine for the price... More

We were on BC ferries trip and stopped in Port McNeill for one night. The staff were friendly and helpful. and the food in the lounge was Superb! If in this area again, I would stay at Haida-Way again! Just one thing... if the light in bathroom can be lighter, that would be wonderful! More

We stayed here because we didn't know there were pre-allocated blocks of (much nicer) rooms in Port Hardy for BC ferry travelers, and this was the only open option. The hotel is next to a liquor store, iffy surroundings, very basic accommodations. It's the kind of place you try to not let your bare feet touch the floor or your... More

we pre-booked online based on the info on web site when we arrived from out of province after a long trip i was very disappointed. the air quality in the building itself was stuffy, stale and reeked of cigarettes. the room looks nothing like the picture online it is old and out-dated. there wasn't an exterior picture of this place... Thanks for supplying an iron+board. Everyone was professional + friendly, especially with our late check-in. Wonderful "Appy" menu and seafood selections. Great. Our lunches aboard the whale tour were fantastic. Thanks Chef+All! More

With a late evening (10:30 PM) arrival from the BC Ferry from Prince Rupert, and after reading other Trip Advisors' ratings, we decided to not overnight in Port Hardy. Instead, we drove about 20 minutes on the highway to Port McNeill. We had prebooked at the Haida Way Motel. Motel is large and has an active bar - made us... More
