A nice getaway for grandsons birthday. Fun times riding the bikes and playing pool. He really liked the big chess board in the front yard and the basketball court. We had a good size room with balcony overlooking river. Evening had us in front of the fireplace in the big common room. We will try to get back.

Stayed one night in a riverside cottage where we had 3 out of 4 rooms. Good room and bed. A bit default hotel style and a bit worn out. Facilities are okay. Separate indoor pool. Separate building with all kind of games, like table tennis etc.
Dinner was average. Breakfast - buffet style - abundant but not special.

We visited for one day (October 14, 2011) passing through and were treated like royalty. Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a lovely time and enjoyed our breakfast table next to a row of bird feeders along the river. Amazing pastries for breakfast, wonderful planked salmon for dinner with awesome desert and lovely coffee liqueur...

We spent a peaceful two days at the lodge and enjoyed everything about the place. The opportunities for hiking, swimming etc were just right. The rooms were comfortable but we thought a little overpriced), especially in the off season. The dining room was very good (but not outstanding). This was our second stay at the Liscombe Lodge..

The whole place seemed very out-dated and tired but the worst experience was the restaurant. There was live entertainment in the form of a pianist who dominated the scene with out of tune and off tempo music - painful ! The food was also a great disappointment with the 'house speciality' planked salmon simply not special at all.
